Liberal-left’s government division posing as a “Corporation” caught in a full-on socialist lie

imageHOW IS THIS CAPITALIST?

It’s a wonder they didn’t publish this story in the “Business” section like they did the story on BC Hydro losing money and having to raise its taxes —sorry— “rates”.  But no, it was simply on page one of what is really the “Government” section — or what we know of as the rest of the newspaper.  (Actually, if you look at the other stories —they’re all about government.  And it’s emblematic of how government now almost totally consumes and controls our lives.  To liberals and progressives generally, this is Utopia.)

This “ICBC” isn’t a real corporation as we know corporations.  It’s another example of the government owning the means of production.  It is in fact a socialist farce which belongs in Cuba or North Korea.  The Insurance “Corporation” of BC (or “ICBC” as it is known instead of “the government”) is a government division.  No, it is not a “corporation” in the sense they and their media accomplices have always tried, using pure deception and lies, to convey, as if it’s just another business like Fred’s Car Insurance (against whom they actually compete —for what we see here:  PROFITS).

The government competes against citizens, and profits, then keeps the profits.  What kind of government does that?  Surely not a capitalist one.  Not a freedom-loving, free-market government of a democratic country.

In this story, just as in the BC Hydro story, they don’t speak of taxes which were levied in order to compete against citizens and “earn” this profit.  They speak of “insurance premiums” and “excessive capitalization”.  So these are lies.

And they have the gall to call the government the “shareholder” —as if it’s a private firm with actual shareholders.  Go ahead and try to sell your shares, “shareholders”!  So it is a lie.  A socialist lie.

But you’ve got to love how they beat around the bush straining to explain all this in order to obfuscate and cover-up the inherent socialism:

The B.C. government plans to take $778 million from the Insurance Corp. of B.C. over the next three years for general revenue, rather than using the money to reduce insurance premiums for motorists.

The money can be moved because the Crown corporation has amassed a larger war chest on the optional side of its business—where the company competes with private insurance companies to provide non-mandatory coverage—than is needed. Insurance companies are required to keep enough money on hand at any given time so they can deal with unforeseen events such as a glut of claims or a significant loss from investments.

“What we are saying is that ICBC is overcapitalized on the optional insurance side, and we’re saying that is funding that should be transferred to the shareholder,” Finance Minister Colin Hansen said Wednesday…

I started out saying it’s a wonder it wasn’t printed in the “Business” section.  Actually it’s a wonder they printed it at all and on the front page to boot.  Because it proves my point:  ICBC, which poses as a “corporation” with the willing help of media which never questions this blurring of lines, is nothing but GOVERNMENT ruining the free-market system, which it will then blame for ruining the economy.  It is emblematic of what happens when the government owns the means of production and offers that other socialist lie:  the “public option”.  And then miraculously winning in the competitive business battle against its own citizens.

What a farce.  I feel like I’m in North Korea.

Vancouver Sun pretends a 100% government-owned division is a “Business”

imageHOW IS THIS CAPITALIST?

The reported revenue drop notwithstanding, how is this a “business” story?  How does this belong on the “Business” pages of a newspaper? BC Hydro is a giant government division.  A government operation.  It’s 100% government.  Its board of directors are appointed directly by the government —the cabinet, and reports directly to the government.  It is absolutely nothing to do with “business”.  It even has one of those left-wing, authoritarian sounding names:  BC Hydro and Power Authority

Once again we have an example of either totally confused, useful idiots running the liberal media — one which has been suckered over the years by progressives and other Fabian socialists into thinking that a 100% government “corporation” is actually a business, further blurring the lines between government and the private/business;  or a liberal media which has actually been co-opted into helping blur those lines.

And once again this reminds me of how one citizen, already fully deluded and indoctrinated, was quoted in this same Vancouver Sun, when he decided he needed to sue the 100% government-owned division of the government hideously called the BC Lottery “Corporation”, as saying that his reason for suing that “corporation” was this:  “It’s about keeping corporations honest, that’s really what it’s about.”

Well done, progressives and your media division.

Upgraded from XP to Vista to 7. Ottawa needs upgrade from progressive/politically-correct, to REAL.

Hello thy sons!

I spent the past two days and lots of the last two nights upgrading from Windows XP, to Vista (only kept Vista for 20 minutes to catch up on email), to the new Windows 7.  Thus the dearth of blog posting here yesterday and so far today.  Son of a b eh?

Now I need to buy a bunch of new software because my software was built for the Windows Leave It To Beaver version.

Ooh — I said beaver!  Hey they should change the beaver from its status as a Canadian icon!  I mean honestly.  Beaver.  Am I right thy sons?  I think the politically-correct know-it-alls should make the new icon a big giant wiener.  Despite its contra-beaver sexual connotation, a big giant wiener more accurately reflects the idiots who we elect to office, and therefore our own selves.  Sadly we’re a lot less like beavers than wieners.  Then of course we could change that line in our anthem to In all thy wieners command!  (Plus, that next line, “With glowing hearts we see thee rise” will add chuckles!)

Anyway, since it’s budget day in Canada, I sure could use some software-buying stimulus from the wieners in Ottawa.  And nothing would stimulate me more than for at least half of them to get their asses off of the taxpayer payroll, and stop acting like feminazis and flaccid dicks, and get real.

Commenter at far-left Toronto Star: “I guess Liberals like seeing women helpless.”  CORRECT.

Our PTBC Quote of the Week Award takes a highly unusual turn this time around, as it is awarded to an unknown person commenting at a left-wing newspaper.

“I guess Liberals like seeing women helpless.”

—a Toronto Star online commenter named “hjk50”, on what I think is another deceptive article by the liberal-left about Canada’s liberals and their incessant demand that the government relinquish all gun ownership in Canada, for what are clearly only political/ideological reasons.  (See blog entry)

His guess is spot on.  Helpless, and fully reliant upon the government rather than themselves or their family or friends or neighbors, come what may.  That’s what all progressives want.  Citizen/gun control is at the very root of progressivism, in their manifest push toward full government control.

See the blog entry for other examples of suddenly rather conservative-thinking or at least conservative-sounding commenters at the normally far-left Toronto Star, after they read the article posted there and refused to be taken by the total BS contained therein.  An astonishing bit of right-thinking sunshine in an otherwise normal, liberal-left media day!

Toronto leftists in charge of schools—and apparently your kids—invoke leftist “education”

Written by Joel Johannesen on Tuesday March 02 2010 at 04:24 PM
COMMENTS! Read Comments/Make Comments (There's 5 so far)

Whenever you see the terms “social justice”, or “economic justice”, or “environmental justice” or any of a number of similarly specious verbiage, think progressive, left-wing indoctrination and agenda.  Because that’s what it is.

It’s particularly horrendous though when you see it as applied to government-run schools, and our children.  When it’s official, centrally-planned, left-wing government engaging in social-engineering, posing as “education”.  Like it is in this case:

image

Treat phrases like that the same way you would when you here things like “public option” —which really means socialism and the government eventually driving private citizens and their private business out of town by competing against them.  Or when the government speaks of “investing” in anything —which really means making someone else reliant upon government, and making government bigger, and defeating freedom and capitalism as best they can.  Or “New Democratic Party” —which really means outright socialism or communism with a happy face painted on it.

These are the same people who want to create new system of taxpayer-paid, government-run national, universal, child care (and “early learning” —wink!) centers to plug your children into while you go out and earn additional tax revenues for the expanding government (lest you blow it on “beer and popcorn” instead of on your kids).

The story reads like something out of a socialist manifesto, or Barack Obama pal and self-avowed communist Van Jones’ manuals for “radically transforming America” through “community organizing”...

School board tells students to pick a ‘social justice’ cause

Toronto District School Board students will be expected to contribute more to their communities under a new ‘‘social justice action plan’’ unveiled today by education director Chris Spence.

The initiative will see every school in the board take on one local and one global social justice issue — such as poverty, equity and environmentalism — in order to “create awareness of how students can be empowered through their leadership to make a difference in their world,” according to Mr. Spence…

As if to make it quite clear I’m right, they they tacitly acknowledge they are the anointed ones who are responsible for giving your children the power —the “licence” — to do what they say are the right things, your own values be damned:

“We have 550 schools so you’re going to see 550 different responses to this call for action. It could be something around poverty in their neighbourhood or the city. It could be something around homophobia. It could be something around racism or how newcomers are treated. We really need schools to, first of all, challenge our kids. We’re giving them licence to do something.

Get it?  The government will give your kids the “licence” to think correctly (about poverty and “equity” and environmentalism, and “homophobia”!) and do right by them.  They know better than you.

And soon your kids will too.

“I call it leadership by children. It’s the kids who go home and say, ‘Hey, this isn’t right. We’ve got to do something.’ That is so powerful,” Mr. Davis said.

CBC apoplectic that new Canada immigrant guide excludes big yellow highlighting of gay rights

Written by Joel Johannesen on Tuesday March 02 2010 at 01:47 PM
COMMENTS! Read Comments/Make Comments (There's 0 so far)

I predict another upward surge in popularity for the Conservatives.

The new idiotic CBC headline this afternoon screams: “Gay rights section nixed for immigrants’ guide”, like we’re all supposed to say to ourselves Dear God! How could they do that to the world’s gays?!, and then the article goes on for about a thousand words about how the minister in charge also voted against gay “marriage” and one time, he appointed someone to a refugee board who was also in favor of traditional marriage.  Like that is or should be illegal or is self-evidently subject to our severe scorn and condemnation.  As if we must all, by law, believe what they — the progressive, far-left — believe.  Or be cast aside as a nut or a criminal.

image

Oh. My. God.  Gay rights section nixed.

So, apparently were heterosexual’s rights.  No mention anywhere in the guide about the type of sex you’re allowed to have in Canada.  Can you imagine? How are folks from Kenya supposed to know?  And apparently black folks’ rights and Christians’ rights and laborers’ rights are also excluded.  Nope, no word about those either.

This sort of news story is part of a progressive process, as per Saul Alinsky and other progressives and Fabian socialists.  The agenda is to browbeat, marginalize, demonize — criminalize if possible —anyone who doesn’t subscribe to or even loudly endorse and publicly celebrate their left-wing claptrap.  They’ll set up and use/abuse so-called “Human Rights Commissions” and “Tribunals” to censor, publicly demonize, penalize, and even force those who don’t buy into their agenda force to publicly apologize for their written or spoken misdeeds to the “aggrieved”.  They seek to dismiss all right-thinking Canadians and institutions as evil louts, and they keep doing it over and over until those folks finally appear to be ridiculous and out of step with the yummy progressive, left-wing agenda.

And all that’s fine, if it’s extremist left-wingers and commies who are doing it on their own time, on their own dime, and in their own left-wing and progressive blogs.  But this is from the state-owned CBC.  It’s the taxpayer-funded news media doing this to you.  In a news article.

This CBC article is an absolute disgrace.  THAT’S the real news story here.

EXTRA PROOF of PROGRESSIVE (and I dare say Nazi-like) PROPAGANDA:

A useful idiot CBC fan and commenter named FrankieV wrote this (and multiple CBC fans gave it the big “thumbs-up”), extolling some of that famous liberal-left, progressive tolerance, intelligence, and understanding, after reading the CBC’s news story:

Isn’t it illegal to bash gay rights?
Shouldn’t this KenneyMinister be ejected for his actions?
If the government still tolerates people like that to lead this country…”

Heil [to someone], FrankieV — am I right?

But I like this one by ThomasAlexander, who wrote:

We need to add sections to the guide that says “Women are allowed to drive” and “Women are allowed to wear whatever the hell they want” and “Women are allowed to marry whomever they want” and ... and ... and…
Geesh, do we have to say everything? How about “we don’t generally eat cats & dogs in Canada” or “bribing police officers is frowned upon”

And as usual, I would like to point out the number of times the whole word “SHIT” is posted within the comments at the CBC numbers in the countless dozens.  It’s like the CBC loves it and by approving every use of it, works to actually promote its use in the every day vernacular, on the state-owned, taxpayer-funded web site.  Great national family-oriented web site you’ve got here, CBC.  Good family values at play here.  Let’s teach the children to be just like you.

Note the number of “thumbs-up” at the brilliant expression of nothing but the word “SHIT”, all in capital letters, to ensure we all know it’s their main point.
image
APPROVED by the CBC.

EXTRA:
First reader comment read at the CTV.ca web site, which pitches the same angle as the CBC using the same Canadian Press story:

I fully support this move.

So do I.

(UPDATED) MUST READ: Hand gun bans cause rise in gun crimes: Scientific Proof - Part 8,058

File this under “Articles That Canadian And Other Liberal-Left Media Around The World Will Never Publish, Because They Are Trying To Hide The Truth From You, For Example The CBC Has Not Published This Article Nor Any Of The Facts Contained Therein Though They Easily Could.”

You do have a file with that heading don’t you?  Well you should.  Of course it will occupy a filing cabinet which would require its own postal code —much like the liberal media’s file on just exactly how evil and stupid Sarah Palin is;  and the liberal-left progressives in Canada, should they ever regain the power and authority and control over you and your lives that they so desperately seek, will probably make you register it and obtain a federal license to maintain it (for which they will charge you a huge fee, plus GST).  So I do understand your reluctance.

Will the Supreme Court Recognize the Truth About Chicago’s Handgun Ban?
What the crime data show is that gun laws primarily disarm law-abiding citizens, they do not make them safer.

By John Lott - FOXNews.com

In the 2008 “Heller” decision, the Supreme Court struck down Washington, D.C.’s handgun ban and gunlock requirements. Unsurprisingly, gun control advocates predicted disaster. They were wrong. What actually happened in our nation’s capital after the Heller decision ought to be remembered tomorrow as the Supreme Court hears a similar constitutional challenge to the Chicago handgun ban.

When the Heller case was decided, Washington’s Mayor Adrian Fenty warned: “More handguns in the District of Columbia will only lead to more handgun violence.” Knowing that Chicago’s gun laws would soon face a similar legal challenge, Mayor Richard Daley was particularly vocal. The day that the Heller decision was handed down, Daley said that he and other mayors across the country were “outraged” by the decision and he predicted more deaths along with Wild West-style shootouts. Daley warned that people “are going to take a gun and they are going to end their lives in a family dispute.”

But Armageddon never arrived. Quite the contrary, murders in Washington plummeted by an astounding 25 percent in 2009, dropping from 186 murders in 2008 to 140. That translates to a murder rate that is now down to 23.5 per 100,000 people, Washinton’s lowest since 1967. While other cities have also fared well over the last year, D.C.‘s drop was several times greater than that for other similar sized cities. According to preliminary estimates by the FBI, nationwide murders fell by a relatively more modest 10 percent last year and by about 8 percent in other similarly sized cities of half a million to one million people (D.C.‘s population count is at about 590,000).

This shouldn’t be surprising to anyone who has followed how crime rates change after gun bans have been imposed. Around the world, whenever guns are banned, murder rates rise.  ...

I think you should all take the required gun safety course and buy yourselves some guns.  Target shooting is a fantastic family sport and hobby.  My wife and I are both licensed to acquire and possess hand guns and long guns.  But then we’re bang-on about most things.

UPDATE:  Toronto Star leaves out absolutely essential FACTS in their news reporting propaganda

imageThe liberals’ very own Toronto Star uses what I’m pretty darn sure are purposely deceptive tactics to once again spew the lying liberal-left talking points about how many times the police “use” the registry.  Or to put it another way, they misinform through an omission of actual facts.  Apparently they are trying to mimic the CBC.  Of course I could be wrong, and this is all just how I see things.  But if they aren’t purposely trying to deceive the public, then I think they are shamefully ignorant of pertinent facts or are just plain stupid and lazy, and therefore they have absolutely no business reporting news.

And yet the Toronto Star has the gall to headline their news story “Gun bill hanky-panky”.  Yeah —it’s the Conservatives and the gun bill that’s full of “hanky-panky”.

Gun bill hanky-panky

...Critics of the long-gun registry insisted that it is of little use to the police and not worth maintaining. This argument was effectively rebutted in an RCMP report on the registry that was released two days after the vote.

...Van Loan’s officials used every trick in the book to stall the report. They disputed its statistics and questioned why the report was produced at all. They even launched a witch hunt over an innocuous banquet held by the gun registry’s staff. (It turned out that the staffers had paid for the event themselves.)

For the record, the report noted that police use of the gun registry is increasing rapidly – to 3.4 million checks in 2008, up from 2.5 million the year before – and it said this “highlights the importance” of the registry to law enforcement.

But that wasn’t what the government wanted parliamentarians to hear before the vote on the gun registry. ...

This was followed by what could only be described as an amazing outpouring of conservative-style thinking at the far-left Toronto Star — by its own readers, who apparently refuse to be treated like total idiots.

When even the uber-left Toronto Star’s readers know better (maybe they also watch Fox News Channel?  There’s simply no figuring this!), you know you need a change in propaganda tactics.

One Toronto Star commenter wrote this:

by Cdnexpat
Half truth again
Of course police use the registry. What is never mentioned is that they have no choice. It is an automatic check that is done when certain search criteria is requested. It can’t be bypassed. What is never told is the the information is never helpful. Police today are always on guard for weapons and potential danger, so it makes very little difference if the registry identifies a gun owner (remember it’s a long gun that’s probably locked up in safe). It really has never assisted police in crime prevention. It has always been and will always be useless.

FACTS keep oozing out thanks to the annoying citizens, which must be very embarrassing for the Toronto Star

by Bear Child
Self Serving Statistics
We, the public, have been constantly lied to concerning the usage statistics with respect to the Gun Registry. Every time a police officer make a vehicle stop in Canada and enters the licence number of the vehicle in his on board computer, a CPIC check of the Gun Registry is made automatically. Any officer with two clues and a survival instinct ignores the inquiry results and assumes there is weapons present as he approaches the vehicle! These highly inflated usage statistics are totally bogus, and are claimed by the bureaucracy to keep the money (and jobs) flowing to a useless and inaccurate database.

Oh God.  More facts.  Facts suck —am I right, Toronto Star?

by Soulchaser
Myth: Police check the registry 10,000 times per day
FACT: The registry is tied to all other police information databases like CPIC so whenever police run drivers licence checks, check to see if someone has a warrant ect, it will create an automatic hit on the gun registry even though no request for information from the gun registry was made. The Liberals, with the help of Wendy Cukier did this to intentionally inflate the registry’s numbers. According to the RCMP’s own statistics, the registry is DIRECTLY accessed, on average, only 19 times per day. Look at “certificate checks” here: http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/facts-faits/index-eng.htm About 2/3rds of the way down the page under CFRO Queries. ALL OTHER INFO in the chart is, and always has been availadbe to police through CPIC.

Another wrote this, and I highlighted my favorite sentence of the day, for which I will actually provide an Oscar-style PTBC award trinket later on today.:

by hjk50
@tired of whiners
You brought up the shooting at Eclole Polytechnic in Montreal; don’t you find it odd that the Liberal response to those murders was to prohibit all the firearms that (by size and caliber) women can use to protect themselves? The Liberal response was to make it law that women will never have the means to protect themselves from killers like Gamil Gharbi. I guess Liberals like seeing women helpless. Anyway Alan Rock promised that the registry would guarantee that there would never be another school shooting in Canada again. How many ways does the registry have to fail before we scrap it?

I like this plain-speak:

by agememnan
The only hanky-panky is..
a 2 billion dollar database, endorsed by a ‘Chiefs of Police Association’ who has been bought by CGI corp (who runs the database) instead of hiring 2 billion dollars worth of police officers. Why not hire *actual* officers and give jobless canadians gainful employment? Oh right .... grampa didn’t register his shotgun.

And these facts:

by JackOram
Use is not proof of usefulness.
The overwhelming majority of the times the registry was used was during routine checks, an automated consequence of looking up an individual’s name, or license plate. How many criminals were identified (I don’t mean law abiding citizens who forgot to register the hunting rifle the had had for 30 years)? None. They don’t register. Duh. Registration has nothing to do with who can own guns - that part is related to licensing, which is quite strict. Registration is simply an exercise in optics to make it look like the government is doing something, and a future tool to be used by a sufficiently anti-gun government to start a confiscatory attack on gun owners. That’s how it has been in other countries. If you believe the government has too much power over our lives, you should support efforts to get rid of this registry.

Here’s a stats or mathematical-minded citizen:

by Billy Thunder
3.4 million hits
3.4 million checks run through the system in 2008. If each check took only 2.5 minutes of a police oficer’s time, that would add up to over 70 years of police man hours. I’m not going to do the math, but that seems like a HIDDEN COST of millions of dollars per year. Millions wasted running checks on people who have already been checked and approved as safe to own a firearm. Stop the maddness, end the registry. Admit the Liberals instituted the registry to gain votes, and to facilitate a future total ban on privately owned firearms.

And another one has more math and stats and facts, which must be ever so pernicious to the Toronto Star.

by Cdnexpat
As Sheila Fraser said in her report to parliament on the registry, activity doesn’t equal usefulness. Let’s look at those 3.4 million checks. Assuming each one took five minutes they totaled 283,333 police hours of work. A worker normally works 2000 hours a year so it roughly equals 141 police years of work or the only work that 141 officers did last year. In return for over 140 officers doing nothing but registry checks for a whole year the registry solved and prevented zero crimes. This report doesn’t defend the registry it just highlights how badly we need to scrape the useless wasteful registry.

The conservative-like thinking just keeps pouring in…

by Midlandman
The long gun registry is another example of how the libs think. They didn’t have a clue on how to stop crime, so they did what they usually do, put makeup on a pig and call it beautiful. And as usual, it ended up costing us lots of $ with no results. Maybe I shouldn’t say that. It did result in the libs keeping up with their hug-a-thug ideology, and made criminals out of innocent people. And meanwhile, the bad guys are still running around with illegal guns.

And then this happened:

You’d think the Toronto Star would withdraw the “news” story and apologize to Canada for purposely trying to deceive them through an omission of pertinent facts.  File that under “Not Gonna Happen.”

You know what?  Stop saying “you know what.”

File this under “Annoying, Juvenile Terms of Speech That Make You Sound Like an Idiot”

Like the public-school-educated teenage girls and boys (or is that “girlz” and “boyz”?) who speak as though every single sentence is a question….?  It’s a fact?  I hope that goes away real soon?

And the annoying beyond all annoying things in which kids use the word “like” at least 80 times per sentence, even using it to reiterate something they said to someone else (”...Im like ‘hay can u stopp sayin like all the tiem?’ And then there like ‘no ur stupid bcuz u liek sarah paylen’... “)

CBC news anchor Suhana Meharchand this morning:
“...you know what I popped the kinds the car and took them along Yonge Street waving our Canadian flags…”

No, Mizzzzz Meharchand, I did not know what.  Now I do know what, several times over, since Meharchand now says “you know what” over and over in her news delivery.  On the plus side, I now know the groovy-trend-code phrase for what we used to call “sweet bugger all”.  And of course since I don’t watch the CBC as a rule, I actually already know way more than what, and learned it not at taxpayer expense!

This “you know what” is starting to push the grating needle to levels reached only by that equally grating CBC anchor Nancy Wilson, who said “very interesting” at least 800 times per day.

This blog entry was not important.  But now you know more than what.

Two polls: proroguing parliament was a popular!; proroguing Hollywood liberals would be a great idea

Globe and Mail poll of urgent importance, today:

Are you going to watch the Oscars?
Yes - 25% 127 votes
No - 75% 385 votes

The correct answer is “No”.  We do not care about multi-gazillionaire Hollywood liberals and other far-leftists showing up in Cadillac Escalade limos and Bentley sports coupes (and those cute PC nutbars showing up in their Toyota Priuses after disembarking from their private Gulfstream G-5 jets) rewarding themselves for doing almost nothing whatsoever (or worse) with still more shiny trinkets, while wearing $80,000 outfits, all in order to pull one of those Jack Layton LOOK AT ME!!  I’M ON TV!!! moments.  So “No” is the answer here.

And on the other politics front, this one in Canada, it seems all that hubbub from the liberals, other leftists, and their suckup media division about the horrors — horrors I tell you — of the Harper administration proroguing parliament (virtually nobody in Canada even knows what that means, much less cares) — has actually led to an INCREASE in popularity for the Conservatives.  AN INCREASE IN POPULARITY.

According to a Canwest/Global National/Ipsos-Reid poll just released:
Conservatives: - 37%
Liberals - 29%
The You’ve Got To Be Kidding Party: - 16%

Socialist Quebec with one of largest debts in the industrialized world

How is this capitalist?  Well it isn’t.  There’s hardly any capitalism in Quebec.  It’s all government.

Liberal-left, progressive GOVERNMENT DID THIS:

Successive socialist and progressive government (currently Liberal) have run Quebec into the economic ground, and they continue to dig deeper.  It now has way over a quarter TRILLION dollars in debt, which represents very close to 100% of its entire Gross Domestic Product — an absolutely abysmal situation.  And it receives “equalization” payments and other unequal attention both fiscally, through federal government hand-outs and entitlements both corporate and personal, and in every other which way — from the rest of Canada, with no end in sight.  And if one dares to responsibly curtail their abysmal, destructive ways, all hell breaks loose amongst the perma-protesting left-wing “artists” who so often sound like communists to me, and other leftists and in their liberal-left media.

Quebec among most highly indebted industrial economies in the world
Red ink accounts for 94 per cent of GDP, provincial report says

Montreal — The Canadian Press

Last updated on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 6:59PM EST

An analysis by the Quebec Ministry of Finance suggests the province has one of the most heavily indebted economies in the industrialized world.

The 44-page document calculates the province’s total debt as 94 per cent of GDP, employing methods used by the Organization of Economic Co-operation and Development.

[...]

Quebec ranks only below Japan, Italy, Greece and Iceland in terms of public debt as a percentage of GDP.

The report calculates public debt across Canada as 69.7 per cent of the country’s GDP.

The report puts Quebec’s total public debt at $285.6-billion.

What a mess.  Vote liberal or even further left.  Get more of this.  Spread and redistribute this wealth.  Bonjour.

MUST be federal budget time!  CBC News refers to the (outright socialist) CCPA as “progressive”!

Written by Joel Johannesen on Monday March 01 2010 at 11:26 AM

CBC_Meharchand_calls_CCPA_JUST_CCPA_but_with_WORDS_OF_WISDOM
The official CBC News spin on the words of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives’ “Alternative Budget”, this morning, is “words of wisdom”.  Again, that’s “words of wisdom”

So far, two CBC News Network anchors, over two shifts, have referred to that socialist outfit’s “Alternative Budget” as “words of wisdom”.  Note that the CCPA is where the “alternative” is, as far as I can tell, and I’m honest: outright socialism  (but you know, shh!).

So obviously the official CBC script —the agenda — is to parlay the socialists’ “Alternative Budget”, which the CCPA readily acknowledges includes massive increases in the federal budget deficit (right in the middle of a massive recession caused by massive, progressive-style, excessive borrowing and spending); even more massive CBC_Macneil_calls_CCPA_PROGRESSIVE_CCPA_and_with_WORDS_OF_WISDOMgovernment spending, which will of course lead to a still further increases in the size and scope of government, and even further increases in taxes — as “words of wisdom”

“As the Conservative government prepares its budget, the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives has some words of wisdom! [her emphasis on “wisdom”.]  It says Thursday’s budget should be all about jobs!  And the progressive [that word was barely audibly said] policy group has a warning for the government!”

—Carole MacNeil, CBC anchor

Note that anchor Suhana Meharchand, when she earlier reported this same story using what I’m sure was that exact same script, changed it only by leaving out the word “progressive”.  She simply referred to the far-left group as the CCPA —no political leaning attached whatsoever (they’re just plain normal!  Not socialist at all!).  The word “progressive” — which really should have been “socialist” — was only uttered by the later anchor, Carole MacNeil.  Maybe she has less seniority.

Then (in each case) the socialism-reliant CBC provides them with the free air time that the CCPA fully expected, in order to promote its far-left-wing, socialist platform.  This will be repeated over and over, all day long, until it sinks in:  “WORDS OF WISDOM”, folks, in juxtaposition to the stupid, stupid Conservatives’ words.

No word yet from the oh so far-right-wing, or the neocons or the right-wing so-called think tank, the Fraser Institute (which actually just stands for normal Canadian freedom and free markets), despite its repeated though unreported news releases and announcements about the need to restrain spending, lower taxes, and other sensible non-socialist things.  Same vis-a-vis the Canadian Taxpayers Federation and the, ugh, ever so far-right National Citizens Coalition and its sensible solutions).

UPDATE:

In the state-owned, socialism-reliant CBC web site’s written version of this, which is nothing less than a free, taxpayer-funded PR-for-socialism pseudo-story, they describe the socialist outfit this way, thus getting themselves off the hook:  ”...the CCPA, which characterizes its policy stance as progressive.”  They nonetheless preface that by themselves calling the CCPA “the independent research group.”

Huh.  “Independent”, and yet, as the CCPA itself admits in the very next paragraph, “progressive” —meaning exactly not independent.  To the far left, words like “independent” must mean anti-conservative, anti-capitalist, and ultimately socialist.

I think in the interest of honesty and transparency and respect for Canadians, so long as the CBC exists as a state-owned, socialism-reliant news and entertainment behemoth, the far-left CBC should be forced to continuously refer to themselves as “the CBC, which is far-left and anti-conservative and want you to be, too.”

Preaching “respect” for “Canada’s institutions”, Lib leader Ignatieff once AGAIN calls PM “THIS GUY”

Written by Joel Johannesen on Monday March 01 2010 at 09:27 AM
COMMENTS! Read Comments/Make Comments (There's 0 so far)

Michael_Ignatieff_speaks_OH.My_.God_.He_.SpeaksThis is at least the third  time  I’ve documented the self-esteemed Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff stand up in front of a media scrum on state-owned CBC TV news and, speaking from on high to his fawning reporters, ignite a giant stink bomb of condescension and disrespect which permeates the whole room.  It was another hilarious though unwitting betrayal of his snobby, disrespectful condescending character, this morning, with his reference to the man and the institution of Prime Minister of Canada as… “this guy”

And nobody in the room — not one of the crack journalists — saw the irony, the hypocrisy, or even remotely appreciated the utter disrespect and condescension contained within Ignatieff’s character.

And what’s even more laughably ironic and hypocritical is that this comedic theatrical exercise (Act Three) is allowed by the playright — himself — to occur in the same breath as his highfalutin condemnation of “this guy” supposedly “disrespecting parliament” and “Canada’s institutions”, by the Prime Minister’s proroguing of parliament for 11 days (or whatever it actually was — not the “three months” as Ignatieff and all liberals tell you every chance they get, in what is an outright lie, which I guess they do as another sign of their great respect for you, and for honesty in politics and its institutions manifestly).

Oh come on people.  Let’s just call it what it is.  It betrays Michael Ignatieff as just plain dumb at least politically, and in perhaps more than that way alone.  And as a guy who is utterly, deceptively disingenuous, and a total phony.  And a typical political blowhard.  And let’s also face it —if nobody in the media sees the irony and deception contained within his smarmy comments, then the media itself is either as dumb, and/or as complicit, in the making of this whole crap sandwich.  I still find it amazing that nobody in the media has called him on this.  Oh who am I kidding — I don’t find it the least bit amazing.

Reporter:  “...Recent polls have shown he’s bouncing back a little bit.  Would that indicate that perhaps the damage caused to him by prorogation is not as permanent as we thought?”

The Liberal Party Leader (and part-time respect cop) Michael Ignatieff:  “My sense is that shutting down parliament raised issues of character.  They raised issues of respect for parliamentary and democratic institutions.  ...  It went to character.  Does this guy respect our institutions?  ... ”

Recap:  it’s all about “character” and the “respect”, the condescending, snobby, blowardious one repeatedly tells us through his state-owned CBC division (which itself so respects us all —especially us on the right!).

And so that is why he is so horribly aghast that, um, “this guy”, the one who heads the most prestigious political institution in Canada, the office which is supposed to be regarded as the highest and most respectful political office in all the land — the office of “Prime Minister” — could show such “disrespect”.  For “Canada’s institutions”.  Which Ignatieff so respects —you know, the other ones, not this one, even by him, the self-esteemed liberal who deserves our utmost respect.

You thought Liberals’ gun registry was stupid?  U.K. progressives now want pet dog/human registry

New ideas from the progressives!  It’s only a matter of time before Ignatieff’s Liberals, Layton’s you’ve got to be kidding party, and the other socialist parties in Canada cotton onto this gem.  If only prorogation would end!

Now the Government wants competence tests before you can be a dog owner

Every dog owner will have to take a costly ‘competence test’ to prove they can handle their pets, under new Government proposals designed to curb dangerous dogs.

Owners of all breeds would also have to buy third-party insurance in case their pet attacked someone, and pay for the insertion of a microchip in their animal recording their name and address.

The proposals are among a range of measures to overhaul dog laws in England and Wales being considered by senior Ministers, who are expected to announce a public consultation within weeks. ...

Soon the liberal-left progressive pack will force you to register yourselves and your toilet to protect you and all of us against you and your excessive odors, possibly also embarrassing noises, and of course the excessive CO2 emissions resulting from eating incorrect — possibly inorganic — “corporate-made” foods, which as you know cause all the “man-made global warming”.  Perhaps large families (nahhh... probably Christians!) or at least those immigrant households with large extended families living in huge houses can get some sort of fleet insurance!  Offered by the government!  Through some sort of a “public option”!  Oh it’s getting exciting!  Someone get that Nancy Pelosi on the horn!

Because the government must control our every behavior.  The government will save us from ourselves, dammit, to make us a better animal, equal to, say, the precious hoary marmot.  Praise the government. And for goodness sake end prorogation!

Hey how about a competency test to determine the sanity of control-obsessed, idiotic progressives?  And a national registry of the results to refer to when you vote?  Here’s a simple plan:  just don’t vote for progressives and other left-wing government-control loons.
