Canada’s liberal-left media Job One today: locate and secure every single left-winger for comments
Am I alone here? Doesn’t every Canadian notice this and wonder what the hell is going on in the media?
And does the media really think that Canada is like them— their perspective that it’s all of us and the whole world against every living small or big-c conservative and everything they say and every value they stand for?
What’s with this silence from regular Canadians over this incessant, reflexive appeal by the media—after every Conservative Party action of any kind—to immediately locate every anti-conservative in the country to garner each of their comments? Isn’t this hideous bias and this anti-conservative piling on agenda transparent enough for fair-minded and intellectually honest Canadians to see through?
It’s already bad enough that the media have permanently pre-wired and pre-procured sound and lighting and camera angle checks for their prophet buffet which always includes the socialist Jack Layton (to whom the media provide full life-support), Michael Ignatieff of course, but also Gilles Duceppe and Elizabeth May (to whom they also provide life-support), then liberals John McCallum and John Manley (who are like floppy wieners in a warming tray), but also socialist knobs Libby Davies and Thomas Mulcair (to whom they provide life-support), and others. They can be instantly hit on to serve-up what they in the media hold out to be their esteemed and totally unpredictable and intellectually honest anti-conservative wisdom —or what we in the sensible set know as warmed-over and boring and ridiculous platitudes, well-rehearsed specious leftist talking points, and over-cooked leftist tripe, which are served as fatty dessert after every instance in which a lean Conservative is allowed to say something publicly.
But then they continue by speed-dialing their contacts at, say, the far-left socialist Canadian Center for Policy Alternatives secretariat (where the “Alternative” is socialism—golly I wonder how that interview/sales-pitch will go!). Then as the media always does in Canada for reasons I understand very well, they trot out the reliably left-wing or full-on Marxist university professors—for their opinions disguised as erudite scientific fact. Then it’s a radical environmentalist and “man-made global warming” expert/wing-nut. Then we have the big labor union goons—one from Ontario and one from Quebec if possible. Then it’s the “human rights” geniuses. The “social housing” and “poverty” broken-record hacks. Hey where’s that “artist” representative? Who’s got our woman’s “reproductive rights” advocate on air? Hurry up! We need her opinion over at the Ceeb!
In between, they squeeze in a Conservative Party MP who is peppered with the pointed questions and the exact accusations spoon-fed to and from the media in their previous “interviews” with leftists. But by so allowing one conservative word in edge-ways, they can claim to be “fair and balanced” since they presented their views too.
It’s absolutely the very last thing on my mind as a Canadian wondering where in tarnation this country is going, but because the Progressive premier of Newfoundland is pathologically hateful toward Stephen Harper, it’s among the most important things being broadcast across the nation on the national TV news and on the cable news channels in Canada and in newspapers today, along with the views of every leftist.
That all shows you just how ideologically-based and anti-conservative the news media is. They focus not on what’s important, and not on presenting a balanced view (one view from a conservative, then one view from one liberal), but rather on what they think might potentially shame or embarrass the Conservative Prime Minister and the Conservative government.
