United in Hate?  BC teachers group says Israel behaves badly;  Iran’s Ahmadinejad agrees.

Written by Joel Johannesen on Wednesday April 22 2009 at 10:30 AM

imageHot the heels of a great column by Barbara Kay, today at PTBC, we find a news story which I think somewhat relates to it.  It’s about yet another political wing of what I call the extreme left-wing (Marxist?) BC teachers party, which is outing their far-left apparently Israel-hating political idiocy again today.  The news also comes in concert with news of Iran’s apparently Israel-hating Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his latest anti-Israel nutbar rantings.  And it closely follows—almost in lock-step (goose-step?) —the apparently Israel-hating rants as spewed by the man I think is an extreme leftist (Marxist?), Ontario’s fringe leftist CUPE public employees union leader, Sid Ryan

Mountain Equipment Co-op in dispute over Israeli goods
Group to call for boycott of products produced in Israel
By Amy O’Brian,

April 22, 2009

Mountain Equipment Co-op—best known for supplying Canadians with tents and sleeping bags—is the subject of a political dispute between local opponents in the continuing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

A motion is expected to be presented next week at the organization’s annual general meeting, calling for a boycott of all products produced in Israel.

“We just don’t think [Mountain Equipment Co-op] should be doing business with Israel until it changes its behaviour,” said Patrik Parkes, a spokesman for BC Teachers for Peace and Global Education. ...

If MEC stop buying from Israel, then naturally I’ll never shop there.  I’ll support Israel-supporting businesses because I’m sane.  And it goes without saying that all parents should thoroughly investigate sending their kids to private schools rather than public schools, as it seems to me that all those state-owned, state-run, liberal-leftist education centers known as public schools are now largely or totally taken over by leftists —including teachers such as those referred to in the above story;  or parents should home-school their kids.  Avoid having them indoctrinated with extreme left-wing and apparently anti-Israel propaganda, rhetoric, values, and a world view that goes contrary to your own, and contrary to common sense, tolerance, good Judeo-Christian values, understanding, and sanity.

When I start agreeing with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, you’ll know you should stop being a patron of this web site.

EXTRA:

The related book Barbara Kay speaks about in her column today, now added to our PTBC Amazon page, is called United in Hate: The Left’s Romance with Tyranny and Terror, by historian Jamie Glazov.

Joel,

I guess I will have to go out of my way to support MEC now!  There are a growing number of teachers in this province, of which I am one, that are sick and tired of our union taking our money and spending it on issues that have absolutely nothing to do with education or even working conditions.  Even though this particular call for a ban is not specifically endorsed by the BCTF [BC Teachers Federation], they do have a specific Middle East policy that basically goes against Israel as well.  Unfortunately this is another example of an overly zealous, highly vocal minority, claiming to represent a larger body - which it does not!
