A conservative OPINION blog --with bite. OPINION by Joel Johannesen.

I changed my tune!  Reid and Duffy are no longer, well, now they’re just arrogant…

Written by Joel Johannesen on Monday December 12 2005 at 11:40 AM

ATTENTION READERS:
Unfortunately we were forced to withdraw the video clip we used to have here at the threat of a lawsuit by the CBC.  So we have this “sort of” replacement which relates to the same thing.

Click to watchWatch this one instead.  The one below won’t work.

I changed my video about the Scott Reid and John Duffy Liberal Party gaffe in which they confirmed that they don’t trust Canadians with their own money and that only governments can manage our money for us and bring up our families properly.  Here’s the original blog entry.

A few people emailed me suggesting I drop one strong word from the video, telling me that it was, well,  too strong a word.

One person suggested I swap it for “arrogant people” and another said I should simply use “socialists”.  One person called me a Nazi, and added that I should drop Ann Coulter as a columnist here, and of course that I should move to Texas where I belong.

So I decided I could live with “arrogant socialists”, since it wouldn’t detract too much from the central core of what I was trying to convey.

  1. MikeR says:

I thought your use of the word ‘Communist’ was bang on. Besides, socialism, communism—what’s the difference, really?

Seriously. How else can you describe the desire of a government to CONTROL the way its citizens spend money?

Arrogant communists like Reid and Duffy would probably advocate having the government confiscate everyone’s salaries entirely. If we can not be trusted to NOT blow $100/month on beer, popcorn or TVs, then how can we possibly be trusted to wisely spend any money whatsoever? Surely, the government knows better what groceries we need, what clothes we need, when we should be allowed to drive our cars, or what TV channels we should be watching. Why not take over everything?

Besides already having the Supreme Court, the RCMP and 70% of the citizens of Toronto in their hip pockets, the Liberals have also got what we watch on tv or listen to on the radio under full control via the Liberal appointees on the CRTC.  I also heard on Adler this PM that Paul Martin’s slamming of the USA over Kyoto made the news gleefully in Cuba, Africa and on al jazeera.  Enough to make you sick.

Yes MikeR, they will soon be picking children’s careers out of school according to the country’s needs.

And what of the arrogance of John Duffy?  He says in that smug tone of his.. “I don’t think any insult was intended to the beer and popcorn producers, the Liberals are proud of those people.”  What???  The Liberal gut reaction to Reid’s comments was to clarify their statements to industry?  Yet another slap in the face to the parents of this country.  It’s like saying just because these idiots with their screaming brats are buying beer and popcorn, the Liberals mean no disrespect to the company’s that produce said beer and popcorn…  Duffy is a weasel, and if it were not for his receding hairline, I would be hard pressed to believe he had any testosterone in him at all.

Anyhow Joel, with using the quotes from the clips as reference, I believe communist was quite fitting.  The problem may be that some people associate the word communist too closely with the former USSR and automatically think imperialist murderers, and not the ideology itself in which the Liberals embrace.  The Liberals are not out to start a cold war and kill people, but they are taking many pages from the old Soviet playbook in their policy.  So, I agree, for the people who are having a reaction to the word communist, I would say that arrogant socialist is a bit more palatable.

Whether you call it sweet potato or yam, they still look the same.

    From the Communist Party’s website

“This section is only temporary and may disappear if it proves to labour intensive to maintain”.

The party that most advocates labour is the one most adverse to working it out!

Here’s socialism at its best in the great white north, thanks to Supreme court Justice Beverly McLachlin.

I like the new version - the old one didn’t bother me too much, but I agree with George, I had to stop & think to realize you were implying ideology vs. gulags.  This is much cleaner.

    Well done.

Mike Duffy’s entire show today was centered around Reid & Duffy’s gaffes.  The “buzz on the internet” was mentioned a large number of times.  Rosemary brought popcorn for Mike Duffy.

Hmm, I am very upset at those evil elitist anti-Christ’s in Ottawa.  Just when I think “they” cannot be more arrogant and socialist..they take it to an entirely new level.  Now I wish the text on my stickers was going to be “extreme” but of course then I would be branded a right wing wacko.

Paul Martin is indeed another of Canada’s anti “Christ"ian liars..the devil truly does work in mysterious ways.  Look into his eyes when he is speaking..you can almost see the lying evil working.  I feel all of Canada is just one massive magicians stage and most Canadians are hypnotized by a very bad liar with no conscious whatsoever.

The PM and his predecessor are both undiagnosed sociopaths.

  9. Dacre says:

I’ve always found it difficult to see the difference between socialists, fascists and communists. Most people have been somehow brainwashed that fascists are right wing but I don’t understand that theory. Quibbleing over the difference is silly when they are pretty well indistinguishable. Canadians seem to love their “socialism” as long as you don’t call it that.

Communist worked for me, but so does socialist, NDP and Liberal.  Some are strolling, some are walking, some are jogging, some are running as fast as they can. They are all moving in the same direction and to the same destination.

So call them what we will, they’re all the same to me.

In case you all missed it, the Liberals have added their female version Of Scott Reid/John duffy to their communication staff.
She has appeared on ‘Politics” a few times, where do they find these screamers at anyone. Every time I see either of them I want to send them to a day-care facility so they can learn a little manners.
I speak of course of Susan Riley, late of the ottawa Citizen, does she hope to follow in the foooooootsteeeeeeps of senator Jim Munson?
    cheers
