Five days of bliss: June 19 to 24.

Tax freedom day June 19, says Fraser Institute

VANCOUVER—Canadians start working for themselves this Monday, June 19, according to the Fraser Institute’s annual Tax Freedom Day calculations.

That’s five days earlier than last year, when it fell on June 24.

Tax Freedom Day, calculated by the conservative think tank since 1977, is supposedly when Canadians have anted up the share of their incomes paid to all levels of government in taxes and start working for themselves.

Tax cuts by the federal government - notably the drop in the GST rate to six from seven per cent - and the provinces are the reason for the five-day improvement in this year’s date, the institute said in a news release Friday.

Note how the story abides by liberal-left media guidelines by informing us that it is a conservative think tank (like, “WARNING—this ain’t liberal-leftist!”).  To a far-leftist, a group that stands for free markets and non-socialism, which is what the Fraser Institute is all about, requires a warning descriptor.  “Right-wing”.  “Conservative”.  Not just “normal”.

Let’s prove that theory. Later in the article, as liberal media always does (because this is also in their handbook), they arrange to check, verify, arrange a contradiction, and if at all possible arrange a sound mocking of the “conservative” facts by asking a leftist for their opinion.  Conservatives (nor even their “conservative think tanks”) are allowed to have the last word.  So they asked (no not really - read on) the far-left socialist Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives for their opinion.

They describe them in their story as the… “Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives”.

The institute’s Tax Freedom Day exercise has come under fire by one group as a misleading gimmick which underestimates Canadians’ incomes and overstates their taxes.

Last year, the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives put out a paper saying the Fraser Institute’s method of calculating the date each year is…

Last year they came out with that “paper”, so that’s not even part of the news!  The reporter dug that up!  It was a deliberate attempt by the reporter to water-down and contradict the story he was reporting on.

Nope.  No liberal media here.

I think they missed counting the Gas Tax and a few other taxes people have. I am sure this is calculated at the average Canadian Household Income of somewhere around $30K. Most Canadians who work decent jobs make twice that and pay that much more in taxes.

For the average working middle class we probably are around break even around October.

Even The Fraser Institute has to water down how bad it is to avoid a general revolution in Canada over our incredible level of taxes for the middleclass who gets most clobbered

Just another example of how liberals label and intentionally try to demean and discredit right-thinking, intelligent Canadians.  Do these reporters think that Canadians don’t know that the Fraser Institute employs some of Canada’s best and brightest economists?

Many of us do know that Canada’s most moonbat, left-winged and lazy minds end up in media…especially at the CBC.  Are we supposed to be impressed that reporters can write and speak and therefore we accept everything they say as gospel?

Riddle me this: when was ex-PMPM’s tax-free day?

Select your answer (more than 1 may apply):

#1 - taxes? He pays taxes?
    #2 - January? 1965?
#3 - Everyday except when it’s opposition MP payola day.

Isn’t it amazing which story’s reporters actually dig into and which ones they just report the press release.

If a Liberal tells the media that a Conservative Party MP did or said anything, it is dutifully reported without digging up any “reports” or “papers” from a year ago.

    Case in point:

Indo-Canadian Liberal MP invited to join Tory ranks

John Ivison and Peter O’Neil, National Post and Vancouver sun
    Published: Friday, June 16, 2006

[TWO REPORTERS NEEDED FOR THIS HUGE-O!]

OTTAWA—The Conservative party has attempted to lure an Indo-Canadian Liberal MP across the floor of the House of Commons to join the government as part of a charm offensive aimed at ethnic voters in Canada’s largest cities.

Ruby Dhalla, an MP from the Toronto suburb of Brampton, Ont., confirmed she was approached by someone she identified as a senior member of the Conservative party, who inquired whether she was interested in joining the Tories.

She said the approach came in the aftermath of the furor that erupted when International Trade Minister David Emerson left the Liberals to join the government last February.

“I’m a lifelong Liberal and wouldn’t even contemplate it. I don’t think [the Conservatives] represent my values,” she said.

Dhalla would not reveal the identity of the Conservative or whether she was offered an enticement such as a cabinet position to make the move.

However, she said it was clear the Conservatives are pursuing MPs who appeal to young people, females and ethnic voters.

“I fit the profile for all three,” she said.

Repeated calls to the Prime Minister’s Office seeking a response were not returned…

I’m so sure they needed to speak to the Prime Minister of Canada personally to get their tawdry little background research going on this caper.  I could make two phone calls right now and get right to the absolute bottom of this story.

There is never a tax freedom day for a socialist.

And joining Ruby Dhalia in the “Conservatives want me” mantra:

Sgro says she was approached to join the Tories

OTTAWA—A Liberal who resigned from cabinet amid scandal says she and several colleagues were recently approached to cross over to the Conservative party.

The allegation from former immigration minister Judy Sgro comes one day after Ruby Dhalla also said she was approached to join the Tories. (She of the Eastern European stripper ‘n pizza scandal)

Both are Toronto-area MPs, and Sgro says the Tories have launched a drive to poach converts in large urban centres where their elected presence is weak.

What a sad joke.  As if the Conservatives would approach Judy Sgro, who is among the worst politicians known to this country and who is mired in some of the most horrendous fraud allegedly to have occurred in this country.

Their internal polling must be very very negative, and freaking them out.

Watch for some media action on this front to save them, and some bogus polls.

Hmmmmm, and i assume Judy and Ruby have that on audio tapes to be checked by experts for any editing.

Oh wait, if Volpe threatens to call in the RCMP like he did with Grewal then David Petersen and Belinda will be included along with the evidence that Paul Martin approved Vote-buying to cross the floor.

Do you think this may be another scam by Liberals since the voters are seeing how Harper isn’t that evil ant-immigrant and his party is more diverse than the Liberal
    regime.
