A conservative OPINION blog --with bite. OPINION by Joel Johannesen.Thursday, September 21, 2006
Video: Mother of dead Canadian soldier, on Afghan mission: “It is worth it”.
A right-thinking mother and family speaks out in favor of the noble Canadian mission in Afghanistan.
Grieving Mother says mission is right
Aproximately nine minutes.
Part of their words:
Mom, regarding pulling troops: “Canadian soldiers should NOT come home.”
Uncle: “...Our family firmly believes that many individuals like the children of Afghanistan that he was befriending at the time of his death, have a better future because of his cause.
“Young girls along with young boys now go to school. Reconstruction work is happening.
“It’s time for the Canadian nation to support our sons and daughters in harm’s way, to protect, to facilitate, and plant to seed of justice and freedom in the world. Shane would not want Canada to and the United Nations to pull the soldiers home before the job is done. Our family agrees with Shane.”
Media reporter then asks, as if he’s a deaf, ignorant ass in total denial of what he just heard: “Do you think the soldiers should come home?”
Uncle: “...Our family certainly supports the troops in Afghanistan and wish them to stay. And it is not time for Canada to pull their soldiers.”

COMMENTS
Comments do not necessarily reflect or in any way represent the opinion of the main blog entry writer or owner of this site, and claims to the contrary are spurious. Distasteful, abusive, hateful, or annoying remarks will likely be deleted; but since this is a relatively open forum, bad comments may accidentally remain on this site. The fact that a comment remains does not indicate an endorsement of the views.
Marc says:
Boy does the CBC ever do shoddy, amateurish work. I can’t believe (actually, I can) they cut to Ms. Inflato-Lips before hearing out Shane’s mother on the last question she was being asked. Especially considering the question “Do you think Canadians know enough about what soldiers like….(cut off)”
Of course we all know that liberal-left media, like the CBC, only wants us to know their perspective on what is going on in Afghanistan.
What I really can’t believe is we pay $1 billion / year for this crappy television network. NUKE THE CBC
Joel Johannesen says:
Well I think the CBC will discuss ending all live news conferences from grieving mothers and families of soldiers from now on—at least the ones like this with the pro-mission view.
They don’t want to risk presenting reality, after all.
And by golly that might save us some cash.

The left and their media cronies misunderstand something. It’s not the Canadian military presense in Afghanistan that is getting our soldiers killed, it is the Taliban presence.

God bless this wonderful family. This quote should be tattooed on the eyelids of every single so-called Canadian journalist. It would remind them daily that Canadians and Canada support not only our troops, but the mission to Afghanistan.

The MSM is just desperately trying to find a Canadian Cindy Sheehan. That’s why they insist on sticking their faces into what should be private, family moments.

Commons staff allowed to show support for troops with ribbons
OTTAWA (CP) - There won’t be any red hats or scarves allowed, but uniformed staff of the House of Commons will be permitted to wear red ribbons on Fridays to show support for the troops in Afghanistan.
It’s part of a national “wear red” campaign started recently by family members of soldiers from Petawawa, Ont., serving in the Afghan mission.
The decision is a compromise between a union request to allow red shirts, hats or scarves on Fridays and a traditional reluctance to allow uniformed staff - ranging from security people to cafeteria workers - to take part in awareness campaigns.
The only exception has been Remembrance Day poppies.
“There is a longstanding practice of not allowing uniformed employees to participate in any kind of awareness campaign by wearing ribbons or buttons or whatever,” said Heather Bradley, a spokesperson for Speaker Peter Milliken.
She suggested the original request from the union wasn’t realistic.
“A request that was made was basically asking all employees being able to ditch uniforms on Friday.”
But simple ribbons will be acceptable, she said.
She said the staff of Parliament Hill have to be seen as non partisan.
“It’s really, really important because we serve 308 members of Parliament with various viewpoints.”
The “wear red” campaign is sponsoring a rally on the Hill on Friday, hoping to attract thousands of people in a show of support for Canadian soldiers serving overseas. ...-

Don-t Want To says:
The media completely ignores a rally by 35,000 people, but AP still has the time to report this:
By ASIF SHAHZAD, Associated Press Writer
LAHORE, Pakistan - About 1,000 Muslim clerics and religious scholars meeting Thursday in eastern Pakistan demanded the removal of Pope Benedict XVI for making what they called “insulting remarks” against Islam.Benedict “should be removed from his position immediately for encouraging war and fanning hostility between various faiths” and “making insulting remarks” against Islam, said a joint statement issued by the clerics and scholars at the end of their one-day convention.
The “pope, and all infidels, should know that no Muslim, under any circumstances, can tolerate an insult to the Prophet (Muhammad). ... If the West does not change its stance regarding Islam, it will face severe consequences,” it said.
The meeting was organized by the radical Islamic group Jamaat al-Dawat, which runs schools, colleges and medical clinics. In April, Washington put the group on a list of terrorist organizations for its alleged links with militants fighting in the Indian part of Kashmir.

Yes, but this lady is The Anti-Sheehan!

Is there anyone who has stated that they do not support our troops? Setting aside the looney NDP rabble who said the troops were forced to act like terrorists, (and even that is couched in specific terms) is there anyone who is against the troops, as differentiated from the mission?

Comment function on the ‘where the h-e-twin towers is the media? is not working Joel.
If there would have been a couple of PETA activists outside the UN building the MSM would have been slobbering all over themselves to cover it. 30,000 Jews or Christians just doesn’t cut it.
