Morgentaler honour draws strong negative reactions

Published: Thursday, July 03, 2008
[Vancouver Sun]

The decision to name Morgentaler to the Order of Canada defies reason. We are honouring a Canadian who spent his career terminating the lives of unborn Canadians. Madness.

    Madness indeed.

I was so frustrated upon hearing it that I had no words to adequately express it.  For me, the fewer the better.

    Madness indeed.

The Order Of Canada is now right up there with the Nobel Peace Prize. Meaningless.

What as well is so sad, it is that our favored web site doesn’t carry full Proud To Be Canadian name.
I know it reflects feelings of most of us readers and those who share Joel’s views.
But I just wonder what can bring it back?

  4. Terry says:

‘Madness’ describes this award perfectly. Hey ‘selection committee’, it’s called The Order of Canada, not ‘The Order of Extreme Leftist Judicial & Political Elites’

Who, I ask, speaks for ordinary Canadians anymore?

  5. Maranatha07 says:

Joel speaks for ordinary beer-drinking and popcorn-eating Canadians.  TWH, i 2nd your sentiment:  meaningless.  Maybe we need to have our own award.  One that represents the shared values of the nation, not the politically correct ones.  But who ould present it.  Maybe Canada’s showing in the Olympics might bring the Proud(pride) back?
