Canadian Islamist terrorist found GUILTY.

image Watching the gals on CBC Newsworld—“Fifth Estate” reporter Linden MacIntyre (see left) and anchor Nancy (“very interesting!) Wilson—chat about it, I’m left with the unmistakable impression (remembering this is a “news” channel) that this is in fact a terrible verdict—this guy was convicted wrongly. 

The CBC chat seemed like an exercise in making excuses for the poor, poor fella, and expressing all manner of oh the kids were just playing so-called jihad games and making youthful jihad threats… .

Note that the terrorist can’t be named because he’s but a youthful li’l jihadist terrorist and we have to protect and coddle him no matter what… because this is Canada.  Vote liberal….

BRAMPTON—A 20-year-old Toronto man has been found guilty of participating in a homegrown terror cell that was plotting to kill civilians.

Justice John Sproat delivered his much-anticipated decision today more than two years after the young man was arrested along with 17 other people in a massive anti-terrorism sweep in the Greater Toronto area.

Mr. Sproat said the evidence that a terrorist group existed was “overwhelming.”

“[The youth] knew what [the alleged leader] was all about and what the group was about.”

The young man, who cannot not be named because he was underage at the time of his alleged

  crimes, was the first of the so-called ‘Toronto 18’ to face trial; his hearing was also considered the first test of the prosecution’s case.

To render a guilty verdict, Mr. Sproat had to be convinced that a terrorist group existed and that the youth knowingly participated in it.

In his closing submissions, John Neader, the Crown attorney, said the men shared a “bond to do evil.” ...

    Alleged?  Umm, he was found guilty so this sort of makes it un-alleged or better yet guilty as charged.

    Do Canada’s Anti-Terror laws have a youth section? This guy was a kid when arrested. So, he will only get a slap on the wrist. Then he will be set free to…(supply any of a number of options).
    It is a good thing to get a conviction. But I am not going to celebrate until the adults get convicted.

    Good luck with all of this.  My Canadian wife was wondering why he was covered under the Youth Protection Act (or whatever it’s called). 

    My wife says that terrorists shouldn’t have any rights in the Canadian legal system…but my militant Conservative American conscience tells me that terrorists should have NO RIGHTS.

    Experience with the Canadian system tells me that there will be leniency. This is due to the fact that we in Canada are so nice. We want people to like us and we need to fit in. And we sure wouldn’t want anyone mad at us. Particularly the UN, Euros and terrorists. I can see the CPC wanting to clamp down but our institutions are totally polluted with progressives/leftists and their ideology. We’ll see, but I have my doubts there will be any meaningful punishment.
