Liberal Court verdict on teachers:  NO FINE, NO JAIL.

Written by Joel Johannesen on Thursday October 13 2005 at 11:34 AM

I predicted “peanuts” would be the ruling, earlier.  I was wrong.  The judge issued roses and bon-bons instead.  I overestimated the ability of the liberals, once again, to simply dispense justice without bias and to maintain law and order in our country.

image That’s right.  Nothing.  No fine.  No jail time

Instead, the liberal judge who was appointed to the bench by liberals, wagged a finger (scratch that—I was guessing but I reconsidered.  I’m thinking it was more of a wink and a hug) at the unionists and told the radical left-wing teachers’ union (“party”) that they should stop paying their members their strike pay for 30 days.  Strike pay was $50 per day, which was coming out of their huge, multi-million-dollar strike fund.

That’ll learn ’em!  (The teachers, and the kids, as well as all the people.)

Oh and remember .... vote liberal.

You should be happy that this Liberal governemnt is as far from small L liberal as possible!  As for the courts freezing the assets of the Union, that is something that rarely happens with drug dealers!  It is the teachers money - $1500 a year at least from each member, it is not been gained through illegal activity.  Quite a dangerous precedent for someone who should is so concerened about government involvement and government control of the courts.

  2. Joel Johannesen's avatar Joel Johannesen says:

Paying union dues to one’s union isn’t illegal activity, but the union paying people to perform an illegal activity is illegal.

That is what the union would be doing in this case by paying teachers to stay on an illegal strike. If you think that in itself is illegal because it’s “the teachers’ money”, then (a) get a grip on reality—it’s not “the teachers’ money” after they pay it to the union in dues, and (b) they should sue the courts, sue the union, appeal the case, stop paying union dues and just keep their money in the first place, or take any number of other measures.  First, though, talk to a lawyer to see how I’m absolutely correct.

And I’m all in favor of the government ensuring that law and order is maintained, through a good, honest government-run justice system.  I’m not an anarchist or even a libertarian.  “Dangerous precedents”?  It would be quite a precedent for the courts to sanction illegal activity against the people.  Drug dealers would be the least of our worries in that case.

And I “should be happy” that this government is as “far from small L - liberal as possible”?  Who are you to say I “should be happy”.  I should be happy?  What is this—Russia?

On most fronts, this government is as left-wing as possible without actually being Cuban.  That’s liberal, through and through.  They’re in favor of unlimited taxpayer-funded abortions in our public hospitals for any reason at and time in any pregnancy at all whatsoever.  For that matter they’re in favor of our socialist North Korean-style taxpayer-funded health care system.  And they’re in favor of gay ‘marriage’.  And in favor of countless state-run nanny-state social programs which they pile on every year.  They are in favor of an all-public taxpayer-funded school system.  State-run liquor stores?  State-run car insurance (with optional towing package!) and associated trinkets being sold by the state?  And so much more.  That’s socialism, plain and simple.  “As far from small-L liberals as possible”?  Drink some more Kool Aid, sir gall.

I could hardly believe “ProudToBeCanadian” was available when I was looking for a web site domain name.  No liberal thought of it?  It took a true blue CONSERVATIVE to think of buying that name and starting a web site built around it?  What does that tell you?  ...  Please remember to support this site.
