The liberal Canadian battle cry is officially “SURRENDER!”

Written by Joel Johannesen on Monday June 27 2005 at 09:56 AM

We could win.  But that’s not the Canadian way.  “Surrender” has become the official motto in liberal Canada.  Even amongst Conservative Party leaders, it seems.

Second or third place is reason for celebration in Canada.  Even when it comes to the gay ‘marriage’ debate.  I imagine once the liberal-left get done changing the definition of “family” and “marriage” for our nation, the Conservatives will congratulate themselves for “trying their hardest” because after all, “that’s what’s important”.

Go team.

No point trying to block passage of same-sex marriage legislation: MacKay

Conservative deputy leader Peter MacKay says there’s no point trying to block this week’s likely passage of same-sex marriage legislation.

He says if the Liberals, NDP and Bloc Quebecois have thrown their support behind it, the proposed law making same-sex marriage legal across the country is almost assured passage some time this week. [...]

Wow.  The level of leadership is astounding isn’t it?  The quality of ideas expressed.  The rallying cries.  “We give!” is the Conservative team’s cheer.  That motto should win the next election.  They could also try “They have a point!” or “We support some stuff!”

There are signs that things could go better than expected for the people on (and in) the right.

Comuzzi expected to resign over same-sex bill

The Hill Times, June 27th, 2005
By Angelo Persichilli

TORONTO—Minister of State for the Federal Economic Development Agency of Canada Joe Comuzzi is expected to keep his word and vote against the contentious same-sex marriage bill this week, after resigning from Cabinet and politics, one top Liberal source told The Hill Times on Friday on deadline.

If that’s the case, Prime Minister Paul Martin and his minority government could find themselves in more trouble than they can handle. If Mr. Comuzzi resigns, it could spur three or four other Liberals to quit politics as well which would not only force the Prime Minister to shuffle his Cabinet a lot sooner than predicted, but would force an election a lot sooner than the federal Liberals had hoped.

But never mind—coming in second is OK too, right?

I humbly suggest not even accidentally revealing the fact that you’ve given up on Canada, Mr. MacKay, at least until Canada is in fact finished.  There are people who, like me, think there’s every reason to keep fighting.  Please move over and let us win this thing if you’re not prepared to keep fighting.

I actually question the conviction here, not just the stupidity.
