Canada, actually

Once again the choice for Canadian television viewing is…. manifestly not what the CBC offers.  In fact since I started presenting these charts the picture has hardly changed at all, and it is clear that Canadians want to watch exactly the same things that Americans want to watch, which is American shows.

Naturally, this drives liberals in Canada crazy, because for decades they and their governments have been trying to create and nurture a “Canadian Culture” …”brought to you by The Benevolent Canadian Liberal-Left Government Know-It-Alls brought to you by the government”, which has steadfastly tried in vain to create a culture that is “anything but American”, with your tax dollars and myriad state regulations governing what we’re allowed to watch on TV and listen to on the radio.

And they’ve obviously failed miserably despite all the billions spent, because you can’t create culture by government decree as all sensible freedom-loving people know.  “Canadian culture” should be brought to you by…. you.

Here’s a supplement for you.  These are the latest top-ten downloads from iPod (this list made me feel very old because I don’t know a “Ne-Yo” from a “P!nk”):

  2. So Sick – Ne-Yo
  3. Beep – The Pussycat Dolls
  4. Stupid Girls – P!nk
  5. Sorry – Madonna
  6. Dance, Dance – Fall Out Boy
  7. You’re Beautiful – James Blunt
  8. Temperature – Sean Paul
  9. Pump It – Black Eyed Peas
  10. Hemorrhage – In My Hands – Fuel
