Proud To Be Canadian? Maybe Not.

Say something.

Keep going, or veer right

Canadian civilian executed in Iraq. Liberals totally confused.

Though details are sketchy, we know at least that Zaid Meerwali was kidnapped and killed in Iraq, after his terrorist captors decided that being from Canada, and being a “merchant”, must have meant he was a “rich westerner”—and therefore must obviously be killed.  Because that’s how the terrorists think.

His brother Ramzi said:

These people are part of Saddam’s regime, criminal people, part of the evil army left over and they are trying to stop the democracy in Iraq.

Of course the liberal-left in Canada was also trying to stop the democracy in Iraq, since they were vehemently opposed—still are—to the overthrow of the evil tyrant Saddam Hussein, who, if it were up to them, would still be in power right this second, with their blessing.

That notwithstanding, Liberal Prime Minister Paul (“we lead the world”) Martin said:

Canada vehemently condemns this barbaric crime and remains committed to working …to help build a prosperous and peaceful democracy in Iraq.

And then one of Martin’s disciples, Dan McTeague, parliamentary secretary to Foreign Affairs Minister Pierre Pettigrew, backed-up the tough Liberal stand by saying… the exact opposite. To wit:

If there are Canadians in Iraq, including humanitarian workers, they should leave.  The security situation in Iraq is dangerous, it’s unpredictable, and the threat to foreigners, including Canadians, is very, very high.

So cancel that whole “committed to working to help build a prosperous and peaceful democracy in Iraq” thing.  Because that’s how liberals think.

Prime Minister Martin also condemned his death by saying that it was a “barbaric crime”.  But to put that in perspective, one of his most recent Senate appointments, the neo-communist mayor of Vancouver Larry Campbell, called all conservatives in Canada “Barbarians” during the last federal election.  Again:  Barbarians.  That’s me and my wife.  Conservative Canadians, and “Barbarians”—just like the Martin liberal description of terrorists.

Hope that helps us all understand just where the Liberals and the liberal-left are coming from.
