Here in Canada, as the BC teachers’ labor union (and radical militant left-wing political machine) votes to abide by the law (it wasn’t a unanimous vote, mind you—almost a full quarter of them voted to continue to flip the BC public including its kids off, as well as flipping the bird to the legal system of BC) and return to their jobs in the wretched coal mines today, in our Columnist section Jennifer Roback Morse writes about the California’s teachers’ union and their expensive political gamesmanship against Arnold Schwarzenegger, which Arnold seeks to change as well he should.
But unlike some teachers’ unions here in Canada, which are nothing short of multi-gazzillion-dollar left-wing (Marxist?) political behemoths and which spend more on their left-wing political campaigns during elections than some of the major political parties do, California’s teachers’ unions are on the brink. Here’s a snippet but read the whole thing called “Join Arnold”:
Proposition 75 is called “the Paycheck Protection Act.” This act requires the public employee unions to obtain the members’ written consent before using any of their dues money for political purposes. Under current law, the employees must make a written request if they object to their money being spent for political purposes. In other words, this initiative would change the presumption of who decides what happens to the union dues, and who has the burden to obtain permission.
That would be interesting, here.
