On news that BP has opened a phone tips line for suggestions on how to stop the oil leak, state-owned CBC anchor Suhana Meharchand has just suggested, on the CBC news channel, one of her own: use tampons and other such feminine hygiene products to plug the hole.
CBC anchor Suhana Meharchand: “… I had one myself yesterday and I thought ya know i-i-if there’s some material that is very absorbent it would be ya know feminine hygiene products! So I don’t wanna cause anyone discomfort but if you imagine a big tampon sorta being plugged into this big hole, uh, I dunno if that suggestion has come across but what are our viewers saying?”
CBC Reporter Lyndsay Duncombe: “Well we are getting lots of suggestions and that’s a good one Suhana but this one comes from Ingemar….”
Turns out the viewers had better ideas.
