Bill O’Reilly, when listing the contributions of other countries to the Katrina relief effort earlier this week on his O’Reilly Factor show, admittedly gave Canada rather short shrift and gave Canada a “pass” for the time being. But he’d promised that Canada’s Ambassador, Frank McKenna, would be on the show today to discuss whatever aid Canada is actually sending. And he was on today.

Bill Gibson, substituting for Bill O’Reilly, listed off more contributions than any Canadian news media has as far as I can tell, and more than even the Canadian Ambassador did, in the 5 minute segment.
Plus: he made nationally recognized heroes (in the U.S.) of the Vancouver Urban Search and Rescue team by mentioning them twice, during this, the most-watched cable news show in all of America, which is one more time than all of the Canadian media has bothered to mention these heroes. See my blog entries here, here, here, and here about this great Canadian success story, and the abject dismissal of the team by our own Canadian media.
If Americans become knowledgeable and grateful for Canada’s help, it will be largely because of Fox News Channel spreading the word.
And that’s gotta embarrass Canada’s liberals, at least a little.
