ClimateGate update: Wikipedia cannot be trusted on “man-made global warming”... articles re-written

... and therefore Wikipedia can’t really be trusted.  It’s sort of like the lamestream media in that way.  Or Barack Obama.  Once you’ve been exposed as having broken the sacred bonds of truth and honesty, even on a few issues, you lose the complete trust of the sensible set, and are ultimately completely screwed.  It’s really an all or nothing proposition when it comes to trust and touting oneself as an honest source of objective information.

Wikipedia has long been suspected by conservatives and other sensible people of having a bias against anything conservative (again, like the lamestream media).  But columnist Lawrence Solomon now exposes what I’m going to call apparent intellectual fraud with regard to the whole “man-made global warming” fraud, and its resulting ClimateGate scandal.  His weekend column at NatPo is reported and discussed at the excellent WattsUpWithThat web site this weekend (that place is a solid go-to site for ClimateGate, etc), but the original Solomon column from Saturday Dec. 19 2009 is right here. 

Here’s a snippet of the salient bits regarding Wikipedia:

...U.K. scientist and Green Party activist William Connolley — would take on particularly crucial duties.

Connolley took control of all things climate in the most used information source the world has ever known – Wikipedia. Starting in February 2003, just when opposition to the claims of the band members were beginning to gel, Connolley set to work on the Wikipedia site. He rewrote Wikipedia’s articles on global warming, on the greenhouse effect, on the instrumental temperature record, on the urban heat island, on climate models, on global cooling. On Feb. 14, he began to erase the Little Ice Age; on Aug.11, the Medieval Warm Period. In October, he turned his attention to the hockey stick graph. He rewrote articles on the politics of global warming and on the scientists who were skeptical of the band. Richard Lindzen and Fred Singer, two of the world’s most distinguished climate scientists, were among his early targets, followed by others that the band especially hated, such as Willie Soon and Sallie Baliunas of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, authorities on the Medieval Warm Period.

All told, Connolley created or rewrote 5,428 unique Wikipedia articles. His control over Wikipedia was greater still, however, through the role he obtained at Wikipedia as a website administrator, which allowed him to act with virtual impunity. When Connolley didn’t like the subject of a certain article, he removed it — more than 500 articles of various descriptions disappeared at his hand. When he disapproved of the arguments that others were making, he often had them barred — over 2,000 Wikipedia contributors who ran afoul of him found themselves blocked from making further contributions. Acolytes whose writing conformed to Connolley’s global warming views, in contrast, were rewarded with Wikipedia’s blessings. In these ways, Connolley turned Wikipedia into the missionary wing of the global warming movement.

The “Medieval Warm Period” that Solomon refers to is also referred to a lot by Lord Monckton, whose video I last posted explained how the ClimateGate “scientists” bastardized it.

It’s really not as confusing as it might sound.  It’s simply a massive fraud being perpetrated on you, which is being aided and abetted by most of the lamestream media, academia, liberal Hollywood, and exacerbated by the likes of Wikipedia and others.  It’s not by shear coincidence that all those institutions are well-know as centers of liberal-leftist advocacy.

When your attempt at recreating the Congress of Vienna with a third-rate cast of extras turns into a shambles, when the data with which you have tried to terrify the world is daily exposed as ever more phoney, when the blatant greed and self-interest of the participants has become obvious to all beholders, when those pesky polar bears just keep increasing and multiplying – what do you do?

No contest: stop issuing three rainforests of press releases every day, change the heading to James Bond-style “Do not distribute” and “leak” a single copy, in the knowledge that human nature is programmed to interest itself in anything it imagines it is not supposed to see, whereas it would bin the same document unread if it were distributed openly.

After that, get some unbiased, neutral observer, such as the executive director of Greenpeace, to say: “This is the single most important piece of paper in the world today.” Unfortunately, the response of all intelligent people will be to fall about laughing; but it was worth a try – everybody loves a tryer – and the climate alarmists are no longer in a position to pick and choose their tactics.

Good recap by Andrew Bolt helping show once again that the Copencrappin’ summit is little more than a summit of socialist tyrants and murderers and rabid anti-capitalists addressing not “man made global warming” or even their new name, “climate change”, but actually they’re fighting God-given freedom and capitalism.  And they’re fighting to “redistribute wealth” —or just steal it through the guise of outright “man-made global warming” fraud — from successful, capitalist, free countries and their hard-working citizens, to poor countries most often led by tyrannical socialist dictators who hate America, capitalism, the west generally, and everything we stand for, and hold their people and their countries down as socialist dictators and communists.  And so on.  You know, as we’ve been saying for years.

President Chavez brought the house down.

When he said the process in Copenhagen was “not democratic, it is not inclusive, but isn’t that the reality of our world, the world is really and imperial dictatorship…down with imperial dictatorships” he got a rousing round of applause.

When he said there was a “silent and terrible ghost in the room” and that ghost was called capitalism, the applause was deafening.

But then he wound up to his grand conclusion – 20 minutes after his 5 minute speaking time was supposed to have ended and after quoting everyone from Karl Marx to Jesus Christ - “our revolution seeks to help all people…socialism, the other ghost that is probably wandering around this room, that’s the way to save the planet, capitalism is the road to hell….let’s fight against capitalism and make it obey us.” He won a standing ovation.

CTV reports Al Gore arctic “warming” story, but it’s already debunked as a lie by Times in U.K.

I love this.  The CTV perseveres in repeating — as truth — a lie to Canadians, which even the liar has admitted wasn’t true.  CTV leaves their story up nonetheless. 

Look at the difference in coverage —not just the photos they used (CTV with Gore posing as an erudite professor; the Times showing him looking a tad sheepish —like a smarmy, sweaty liar who has just been caught, once again, lying). 

Inconvenient truth for Al Gore as his North Pole sums don’t add up

There are many kinds of truth. Al Gore was poleaxed by an inconvenient one yesterday.

The former US Vice-President, who became an unlikely figurehead for the green movement after narrating the Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth, became entangled in a new climate change “spin” row.

Mr Gore, speaking at the Copenhagen climate change summit, stated the latest research showed that the Arctic could be completely ice-free in five years.

In his speech, Mr Gore told the conference: “These figures are fresh. Some of the models suggest to Dr [Wieslav] Maslowski that there is a 75 per cent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during the summer months, could be completely ice-free within five to seven years.”

However, the climatologist whose work Mr Gore was relying upon dropped the former Vice-President in the water with an icy blast.

“It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at,” Dr Maslowski said. “I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this.”

Mr Gore’s office later admitted that the 75 per cent figure was one used by Dr Maslowksi as a “ballpark figure” several years ago in a conversation with Mr Gore.

The embarrassing error cast another shadow over the conference after the controversy over the hacked e-mails from the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit, which appeared to suggest that scientists had manipulated data to strengthen their argument that human activities were causing global warming. ...

I guess CTV News doesn’t follow — or report — the news so much. 

EXTRA SWEATY— NEWS EDITOR FUN WITH MIND MOLDING

I liked the picture accompanying the caught in a lie headline on Drudge Report —they used one that was obviously from the same set of photos the CTV looked at, only Drudge chose a more appropriate one.  Unlike the one the Gore-loving sycophants at the CTV “News” department and its editors chose, it didn’t cast Gore as honest old Professor Know-It-All.  Then again, Drudge is referring to the truth.

CTV skids along on its colon and a “fake” story;  CBC demonstrates too: it’s about ending capitalism

How about this headline instead: 
Joel Johannesen: ‘Climate science’, pretty fake!

CTV does another one of those headlines that agenda-driving media provides its audience.  Somebody said something they really wish they could say themselves, but they can’t because they’re still operating under the pretense that they’re a fair and balanced objective “news” source instead of actually largely being another liberal-left, agenda-driving machine, replete with liberal-left-biased propagandists posing as reporters and editors.  And God knows how that photo of “a melting glacier” popped up on their story!

Once again (I mentioned this last week), they put the name of whomever is saying it, a colon, then what they said.  This, they think, gives them what they want:  their message, put out there for all to see and read; plus by quoting someone else, that plausible deniability factor, which they think passes for “journalism”.  They make out like they’ve presented hard news; facts, truth, instead of (in this case) just another news propagandist’s opinion.  See how the article actually starts —it’s a good morning laugh. 

This, we are to believe, is investigative “journalism” today.  This “review” or “fact-check” by a news organization heavily invested in the very story they are “fact-checking”, coming to a hilarious conclusion based on ether.

Don’t think their “fact-checking” is tainted? (And the CTV doesn’t either?!)  This is the same “news organization” and wire service which dispatched ELEVEN REPORTERS to “fact-check” Sarah Palin’s new book, Going Rogue, but didn’t dispatch any reporters to “fact-check” any of the books recently written by a liberal-leftists or Democrats, ever.  ELEVEN REPORTERS.  To “FACT-CHECK” Sarah Palin’s book.  (And by the way, they found NOTHING to report.  NOTHING.) 

So unless the CTV reporters and editors never read the news or any blogs, and are therfore woefully ignorant, the CTV KNOWS the AP is tainted in at least this way.  Or they simply don’t care, because this is helping advance their agenda.  Or they don’t care about anything, period.  I think they are knowingly misleading you, and misinforming you.  I think they are part of a serious problem, very much linked to the whole story of the ClimateGate scandal, part of which involves a cooperative cover-up of facts. 

  I feel like I’m in a Mafia movie.  Or Nineteen Eighty Four.

For their part, the socialism-reliant, state-owned and taxpayer-funded CBC presents a news photo on their front page this morning, which ever so unwittingly exposes the real ideological force behind the “man-made global warming” charade:  “Scrap Capitalism”.  Again, like CTV using their colon, the CBC is using someone else’s words to express their innermost parts.

Hello Joel, I have been a professional scientist for 30 years now. I was never asked to sign a letter saying I agreed with a theory. My work was never “reviewed” by journalists.

Unlike politics, science does not value consensus. On several occasions in the past the majority was wrong. With time, the best idea wins, regardless of the initial number of its proponents. Also, to call a scientist a skeptic is a form of praise. I am proud of being one and I wonder why the climate alarmists are not.

ClimateGate continues; liberal media makes it worse: touts 1700 scientists signing new document…

... but once again lies through omission of facts. They leave out important facts —now being uncovered about even that new document — which shows still more coercion in the “scientific” community; more non-science fascist-style bully tactics, and manifestly, total BS un-science.  Which makes a total joke of their news story.  It in fact makes ClimateGate an even worse scandal.  And proves, scientifically, once again, that you can’t trust the lamestream liberal-left news media. 

Today, the CBC, CTV, and pretty much all other liberal media is doing still more of exactly what the ClimateGate scandal already started doing, which is to cover up facts and in so doing, lie in order to sell what the liberal-leftist news media has fully invested in —the “man-made global warming” claptrap and agenda.  And once again, they’re relying on “scientists” to do it.

The story touted in much of the media this morning (aside from their hero Barack Obama getting a Nobel Peace Prize for doing utterly nothing), is that 1700 scientists signed a new declaration defending the “climate science”, in light of the ClimateGate scandal (showing just how freaked-out they are by being exposed as frauds and losing their summer homes).  Amazingly, these “top scientists” (and who calls themselves a “top scientist” anyway?) all agree in unison and totally spontaneously about the science which they had virtually nothing to do with. 

For example here’s the treatment CTV.ca is giving it this morning —top billing, only surpassed in value by their man Obama winning his shiny trinket of utter left-wing BS, his Nobel Peace Prize:

And here’s how CBC did it —in an article all about the extreme left-wing political agitprop billionaire George Soros’ (they mention nothing about him being an extreme left-winger and political agitprop who funds MoveOn.org and many other extreme left wing organizations and web sites) latest yammerings:

But they left out a detail or two about those 1700 signatures:

Scientist ‘Pressured’ to Defend Climate Research

One scientist said that he felt under pressure to sign the circular or risk losing work. The Met Office admitted that many of the signatories did not work on climate change.

One scientist told The Times he felt under pressure to sign. “The Met Office is a major employer of scientists and has long had a policy of only appointing and working with those who subscribe to their views on man-made global warming,” he said. 

Why don’t they in the lamestream media like CBC and CTV mention that little snag in their reporting?  Because ClimateGate continues.  Now it’s not just scientists’ hides that need saving, it’s the media’s.  The now fully invested in Al Gore, Barack Obama, Democratic Party, liberal-left, “Man Made Global Warming” industrial complex media… continues its cover-up to save its own credibility.  Which proves once again that a news media shouldn’t invest in any left-wing ideology and then attempt to drive that agenda down the throats of an unsuspecting public, while holding themselves out to be the objective, fair and balanced, purveyors of truth.  Especially when they’re state-owned and taxpayer-funded.

It’s much the same reason they didn’t mention the 31,486 scientists, 9,029 with PHDs, who have signed the opposing Global Warming Petition to say they have serious doubts about the validity of “man-made global warming” and the link with climate change and CO2.

That’s a ratio of 18:1. 

Meanwhile, Fox News Channel is telling the whole story, as usual.  Meaning that if all you watched was the CBC, you’d be getting stupider by the second.  More and more misinformed, uninformed, and led astray.  By a media with an agenda.  A state-owned, socialism-reliant, taxpayer-funded news media with a left-wing ideological agenda.

ClimateGate continues: “scientists” (and left-wing politicians) ignore the science of “email”

Excellent Lorne Gunter column at NatPo today.  Here’s a passage of “The skeleton of climate change”:

...Nevertheless, delegates in the Danish capital have practically glossed over the CRU “Climategate” leaks. That’s partly because they refuse to let the facts get in the way of their cause, but it’s mostly because Copenhagen isn’t about climate change as a physical phenomenon, but rather climate change as an opportunity to regulate people’s lives and incomes on a global scale.

It’s about carbon taxes on rich countries to raise money for the UN to give to poorer countries, regardless of whether that has any impact on climate. It’s about international bureaucrats regulating business and personal decisions in the name of saving the planet. And it’s about giving the outward appearance of caring, about patting one another on the back for the deep moral superiority they are demonstrating as climate campaigners.

So what if the CRU emails and code files are full of instructions about where to insert the artificial corrections to real scientific data to make that data produce scary-looking graphs showing catastrophic warming? Who cares if the climate record, without the artificial corrections, shows the current warming is not the greatest warming of the past 8,000 years, or even the second-or third-, but the fourth-greatest? This is about implementing carbon taxes or cap-and-trade schemes or building huge carbon sequestration systems — more to prove we care than to clear the air.  ...

The spinning from the climate industry in the wake of Climategate has been as fascinating as the incriminating emails themselves.

One demand being peddled by the powers-that-warm in Copenhagen and elsewhere is that we should all concentrate not on the damning emails, but on who was responsible for their “theft,” which had to be carried out for money, which in turn obviously came from the fossil fuel industry.

These guilty-until-proven-innocent villains have also been fingered by Canada’s warmist spinner-in-chief, Dr. Andrew Weaver. Dr. Weaver, who is Canada Research Chair in Climate Modelling and Analysis at the University of Victoria, claims that his office has been broken into twice, that colleagues have suffered hack attacks, and that mysterious men masquerading as technicians have attempted to penetrate the university’s data defences.

There have been no arrests, and there are no suspects, but Dr. Weaver has no problem pointing to the shadowy culprits — the fossil fuel industry — thus joining his colleagues in the left coast Suzuki-PR-industrial complex. ... 

And I loved this line in John Stossel’s most recent TownHall column, in which he thinks out loud about what he should do his new Fox Business Channel debut show on, this Friday (he’s prepared two shows in advance):

On second thought, with Barack Obama heading to Copenhagen promising America will cut its greenhouse gasses by 83 percent (not 82, not 84—exactly 83), I may do my first show on global warming.

Dumb-ass left-wing global warming fundamentalists easily access Parliament. Got that, terrorists?

And here I thought the Islamofascist fundamentalists were the problem.  But it’s the extreme left-wing environmentalist fundies right here at home we should be worried about. “Home-grown” left-wing environmentalist extremists, as I’m sure the left-wing media like the CBC will call them, as they call the “so-called” terrorists when they’re living in Toronto via Yemen and through Saudi Arabia.

Over on the CBC’s web site, we have their usual Useful Idiots Brigade of extreme left-wing fundamentalists rushing to champion the freaks who breached our national security.  And in accordance with their global socialist governance view, are actually defending the Greenpeace hippies who gained full access to the seat of our government and democracy, with all that this entails about the state of our national security.  They’re totally cool with this.  For example this useful idiot, who sounds every bit like a communist to me, as do so many of the Canadians who have been raised under the socialism-reliant and socialism-promoting CBC’s tutelage.

Break into our Parliament Buildings and prove to terrorists the world over that we’re national security pushovers?  No problem.  It’s only when an honesty-seeking whistleblower “breaks into” a nefarious computer database and reveals what appears to be the biggest left-wing/government/media fraud in recent world history —
CBC covers it over the banner “The Climate Question”, as if this security breach is about “climate change”, and calls the criminals “HILL CRASHERS”, and the story is simply brushed-off as “Parliament Hill Protests”, rather than “a monumental national security breach” which “exposes our security weakness to all the world” and what more serious countries might “take seriously”.  Moreover, the RCMP officer couldn’t get that offensive smirk off her face as she was questioned about their lapse of our national security.the “man-made global warming”, uh, “science” — that the extreme leftists’ collective heads explode and they become angry warriors (angry at the whistleblowers, of course!), and demand police charges and the firing squad. 

Actually, I don’t doubt that just as they did after 9/11, many of the left would forgive Islamofascist terrorists if they, instead, had done what the Greenpeace left-wing extremists had done today. So it’s confusing that way.  (But attempt to put up a Christmas tree at Parliament Hill?  And call it a Christmas tree instead of “a happy-tree of seasonal values”... that’s a declaration of war, baby!)

But it’s a learning moment. 
1.  Now we know, and al Qaeda knows, and all terrorists and other like-minded know, the very seat of our democracy and government is easily penetrable by dumb-ass left-wing hippies, so leave the complicated break-in plans at home in Yemen or in Moscow or Chonqing, and simply look for an unattended scaffold or bring your own ladder, hopefully purchased at a non-profit hardware co-op.

2.  Memo to the Canadians:  The first priority of a national government has to be its nation’s security, the very most basic element of which has once again proven to be way beyond their “pay grade”, at least without the help of the Americans, upon whom we totally rely for our national security.  But note that this is the same government, the left-wing minions of which want to look after your children in national “daycare” (and “early learning” —wink!) centers;  and think they are best equipped to look after you and your family’s health care;  and of course tend to your law and order and personal safety and national security needs. 

3.  Obviously we can’t rely on the government’s national police force.  Maybe the government and y’all should call Alarm Force at 1-800-267-2001.  And possibly take a gun safety course and get your license, and a gun.

David Suzuki in weekend Vancouver Sun:  “I don’t give a shi*”.  Got that, kids?

Even I, as jaded as I now am as a reader and viewer of liberal-left media, was not prepared for the vulgar PG-16 crap-speak that they printed on page A-6 of their supposedly decent family newspaper (see left), even if the crapspeak was from the crap-speaker-in-chief, David (bug doctor) Suzuki, that political scientist posing as the Canadian enviro messiah of all get out. 

Apart from their fanciful notion of being a fair and objective news media, the Vancouver Sun, along with Canwest generally, also poses as a major media proponent of the “Raise A Reader” children’s literacy program.  Through that program, they urge toddlers and all kids of all ages (as early as possible for the “early learning” —wink!) to pick up the newspaper and read it through and through.  To learn.  They also advocate “spell-a-thons” and back the Canwest national spelling bee and various other learn them kids right kind of advocacy, and even supply schools with their newspaper.  And they thought it would be PERFECTLY appropriate to include those particular words. 

But of course I should, I suppose, be a good liberal shoulder-shrugger and give up all my stupid ethics and ancient vestiges of decency and conservatism because after all, it’s SUZUKI.  David Suzuki is the man they would most love your kids to adopt as their role model;  their ideal human.  He’s the left’s favorite son.  He’s the favorite anti-corporate, anti-conservative icon of the far left greenery.  He’s the official environmental alarmist and political scientist for the left;  He’s pseudo-god David Suzuki, and he tells your kids, “I don’t give a shi*”.  So they shouldn’t, and I shouldn’t, either.

I wonder if the great master speaks like that to his grand kids.  Does “grandpa” say “fu**” this and and “I don’t give a shi*” about that all day long to them?  I guess he does.  Apparently that’s how he and the Vancouver Sun speak to you and your kids now, so it must be OK now.  That’s “progressive” in the truest sense.  Raise a reader —help them become values-challenged adults who don’t give a shi*!

Those words were part of a larger effort to obfuscate.  To help drive their agenda. 

Just as nearly all the other liberal-left lamestream media has done and is still doing in light of ClimateGate, Canwest’s Vancouver Sun invests a whole page, this weekend, to deflect and redirect your attention AWAY from that nefarious scandal, instead of fully exploring it and its ramifications.  Like the rest of the liberal left, the lamestream media is now fully invested in everything ClimateGate exposes as a fraud. 

So they do this in lieu of fully addressing the issue like the ever so honest brokers of truth and facts and science that they hold themselves out to be.  This makes them cowards, and ideologues. I personally hope that’s what your kids learn.

The Vancouver Sun and David Suzuki.  Screw the kids.  We got some phony idols and left-wing ideology to sells ya.  Have a lovely weekend.  (Like we give a shi* about you and your family.)

CBC shuns ClimateGate, but whatdoyaknow, is showing Al Gore’s “documentary” -on their “news” channel

I am fairly sure I heard out of the corner of my ear that CBC is going to be running Gore’s global warming film again,  to scare all the little kiddies and even some of us grown ups.  He must be raking in the cash.  CBC simply has no shame and will never give up their agenda.

Yes it’s true.  It’s naturally going to be shown on their “PASSIONATE EYE” series.  And this time I’m not just joking like I usually am about the state-owned, socialism-reliant CBC constantly showing Michael Moore’s so-called “documentaries” and Al Gore’s so-called “documentary” on their so-called “news” channel, and usually on “The Passionate Eye”. 

By shear coinkidink, it’s being broadcast almost as if it’s their answer to all that talk of ClimateGate —that science and media (alleged!) fraud and cover-up scandal.  And it’s on the eve of the Copencrappin’ summit too!  How fortuitous!

Yes, as if to prove that Gore’s “documentary” is all “facts” and stuff, they’re broadcasting it on the CBC’s “news” channel.  Yes, the “news” channel, which should never be confused as a state-owned, taxpayer-funded propaganda and agenda-driving machine of the far left, which spends our taxpayer cash pushing an increasingly discredited left-wing political, social, and economic agenda, of course.  Rather, as a good “progressive” Canadian, you should see it as just news: facts —and all the facts of course, all the time.  Fairly presented too!  ...mmmmBut not ever including any facts about the ClimateGate science fraud that is occurring today (or, you know, what they will call the “so-called” fraud just as they call the war on terror the “so-called” war on terror, just as soon as they start reporting on it at all in even a half-honest manner, which I don’t expect them to do anytime soon). 

In their promo/blurb about it on their web site division, the CBC acknowledge that by golly, it just happens their big presentation “also coincides with the release of Al Gore’s latest book Our Choice: Creating a Green Future.”

Well hell’s bells. 

Meanwhile, a couple of Academy Award-winners from days gone by are demanding that “The Academy” (all hail OSCAR!) revoke Al Gore’s ridiculous shiny trinket —his “Oscar” (“Take back Al Gore’s Oscar, 2 Academy members demand in light of Climategate”).  This, on the basis that his so-called “documentary” was, as we in the smart ‘n common sense set always knew but which has now been proven thanks to ClimateGate and solid science besides, based on bunkum.  Which means it should never be shown anywhere as a “documentary”, and least of all on a state-owned, taxpayer-funded, “news” channel. 

But other than that, have a nice weekend!
