State-run CBC not covering the Michigan primary today? Hey! It’s all Republican! Coinkydink!
I’m not sure if they’re giving those Canadians among us who aren’t on the political far left the virtual finger, or what.
The liberals’ left-wing state-run CBC (at least their Newsnet secretariat), which, daily, is all over their beloved Hillary and Obama and even John Edwards, and which was all over the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primaries (at least they were all over the Democratic side of those races), is (as best I can tell) completely ignoring the Michigan primary today.
The thing is, it is largely a Republican Party primary.
Are they literally admitting that since they detest or at best don’t care one whit about the Republicans that they therefore don’t want you to either? Are they literally admitting that they only care about the Democrats—their beloved Hillary and Obama and Edwards? Are they literally trying to be mocked and laughed off the air by tacitly admitting their abject bias and leftist propaganda-driving (in this case by an overt omission of the important news of the day)?
No on-air coverage. No, none. It is taking place today! By the way, they also missed the Wyoming primary—also a Republican-only affair.
They are, however, covering the breaking story about the origins of syphilis. Well “breaking” inasmuch as it happened during the travels of Christopher Columbus.
The state’s official man in Washington, Henry Champ, who covered the New Hampshire primary and Ohio caucuses to death, was interviewed today, but on the baseball hearings taking place there in the United States. Nothing about the Michigan primaries. The baseball hearings, but nothing about the Republican race. I do realize I’m repeating myself. This blatant bias is a little hard to believe even for me.
They also covered the story of a moose which got stuck in the ice down south.

See more on the left-wing bias in the media with regard to the U.S. election here.
UPDATE: After hours of vacuous coverage of some irrelevant stories, the state-run media finally decided to tell you a tiny bit about the Michigan primary. For many CBC viewers, this will be the first time they even heard of the thing. For many CBC viewers, it will be among their first glimpses of Republicans in the race, and a rare review of their names.
At 11:39 AM PST they teased upcoming coverage with a banner over their stock footage making the names of the Republican front-runners as unclear as possible in their effort to make a joke out of the whole thing. (Is there ever any joking about Obama’s name?)
After this, we had the entertainment update, then the story about that moose getting stuck in the ice was repeated again. Then the weather across the country. At this point, I was forced by intellectual need and my quest to preserve my sanity to switch to Fox News Channel (the best channel in Canada), and actually get informed about the world.

The Canadian liberal media’s OBAMAGASM continues
The veritable Obamagasm continues unabated in the Canadian liberal media today as it has virtually every day, especially since the U.S. primary season began. (See my blog entries categorized under “U.S. Election” for copious examples of the Obama/Clinton obsession (fetish?...yes I think so) in the liberal media in Canada. I’m actually having a very hard time keeping up, and despite the countless dozens of examples, I’m sure I’ve missed more than I’ve stumbled across).
Today we find, among other possible examples I’ve missed, that once again, Maclean’s magazine features the great OBAMA on their latest cover and in a glowing report. And once again—for the 8,000th time—the National Post is featuring another story on ♥ their man ♥ , the great OBAMA.

So far they’re showing no signs of being embarrassed by their obvious promotion of liberals in politics, which as I said in a recent blog entry exemplifying their bias, has actually turned into a blatant, unabashed media propaganda machine.
EXTRA EXTRA:
The Vancouver Sun, Calgary Herald, Ottawa Citizen, and Montreal Gazette all feature similar stories on the great OBAMA today. And only Obama. The Star Phoenix actually only has one story about the U.S. elections, and it’s one that actually mocks Republican Mike Huckabee for believing like a Christian—it’s a story about a shrimp or some such creature that was discovered and is being used to bolster the theory—yes it’s a theory, folks!—of “Darwinian evolution”. They mock Huckabee for believing in Creationism, as all Christians do, to one degree or another. The Victoria Times Colonist has the same story but also adds one about the great OBAMA!

CTV with breaking news: The great OBAMA has a secret weapon!!!
You really have to watch liberalvision in Canada to believe it. I could never simply explain this kind of news reporting to an American or a citizens of any country, really —except possibly an Iranian, North Korean, or Chinese citizen—those who are used to such blatant propaganda.
Just now, on CTV Newsnet, “news” anchor Kate Wheeler introduced some “news”. Turns out that apparently, the great OBAMA has a “secret weapon” in his bid to win the Democratic Party candidacy for president. We know this because the CTV banner told us so.
Are ya like me? Are ya just dying to know what the “SECRET WEAPON” is? Me too!

The then voice-over eventually told us: “Enter…. MICHELLE OBAMA!”
Turns out it’s his wife.

I kid you not.
Hey how did they pass this “weapon” by the crack U.N. weapons inspectors?!
They interviewed many people regarding this, um, OBAMA wife news. It was all extremely favorable. Fawning. Glowing. Suck-uppy to the enth degree. Fabulously adoring. It was the hideously liberal-left biased media at its best.
Apparently no other candidates—especially Republicans!—have wives. Or, perhaps, they just all suck and are morons (they are Republicans!), and thus could not be classified as “SECRET WEAPONS”.
The OBAMA “news” story lasted 3 minutes and 10 seconds.
Ironically, speaking of “weapons”, their previous piece on Bush’s Mid East trip in which he’s trying to achieve historic peace, lasted 1 minute, 11 seconds.
Well done, CTV.

Liberal media continues obsession—now turning to outright propaganda—about U.S. election
NOTE: I’ve now started to categorize blog entries related to the U.S. election so as to provide one convenient link to all related blog entries. Here it is: http://www.proudtobecanadian.ca/blog/index/weblog/C59/
As I’ve been updating you for a couple of weeks, Canada’s liberal media is hysterically obsessed with liberals insofar as the 2008 U.S. election cycle. Just about all they talk about—and talk about whether it’s warranted or not (yesterday I pointed you to a CBC radio interview with… far-left radical feminist Gloria Steinem and her take on Hillary!... which is still featured there today) —concentrates on Democrats, while largely or completely ignoring Republicans. It’s Obama/Clinton, all day long, every day.
Note that the next primary is in Michigan, and involves ONLY Republicans—not Democrats. So you’d think all they’d be talking about were Republicans and that primary. But no. Not at all. They are obsessed with liberals, and telling you all about them. Imprinting them in your minds, while ignoring Republicans as best they can—or at least relegating them to a place of very minor significance, a distant second to the importance of Democrats. Don’t take my word for it—just look at the graphics of the newspapers and online news sources I‘ve provided recently. The news media graphically prove themselves to be biased—as if the biased words use in their reporting weren’t enough.
Between the state-run CBC and all the other liberal media in Canada and their hideously biased reporting, you could forgive some people from seeing this as some sort of a junior Goebbels effort (he was the Nazi Minister for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda) or a shot at the Soviet Union or North Korean attempt at mind-control of the population. Of course to those of us in the sensible set, it just makes us laugh.
Here’s some more:
The Globe and Mail today (left ...in more than one way!) has a front-page article that at first glance appears to be about the election and “The Road to the White House” in general, and asks “Will women or children pick the next president?”, but in actual fact, it discusses nothing but Clinton and Obama —EXCLUSIVELY. The words “Republican”, “Romney”, “McCain”, or “Giuliani” appear NOT ONCE in the long article. Meanwhile on the right the liberals’ Vancouver Sun gratuitously splashes a huge article and photos of Obama and Clinton on their so-called “U.S. Election” pages, two days after the New Hampshire primary are already over and right before the Republican-only Michigan primary.

Here’s the Calgary Herald today (left), which conveniently provides yet ANOTHER photo and story about the great Obama, just before the Republican primary. The National Post (right) at least hits on the Republican primary in Michigan, but as you can see, relegates it to second-class status under a haYUGE photo of a warm, open-armed, welcoming ♥ Hillary ♥, and yet another article about the great Obama, both above the fold.

The Ottawa Citizen provides priceless liberal advertising again today, while relegating the Republicans to barely second-rate news. Meanwhile the Montreal Gazette features a huge ♥ Hillary ♥ editorial in their opinion pages consuming nearly half a page.

The provincial Victoria Times Colonist features a story only about the great Obama and the great Hillary. Totally ignore any republicans. For good measure, they also have a huge editorial in their opinion pages about… Obama.

READER FEEDBACK:
Received Friday January 11, 2008
Joel…...In your Thursday review of media bias concerning the U.S. primaries you forgot the Montreal Gazette….....
They had 2 HUGE (and positive) articles on page 2 and 3 ....one about HILLARY and one about OBAMA….....no articles about Mitt or John or Mike…????
But they did have a tiny little blurb about Giuliani (negative of course) having had a bomb threat at a venue he was speaking at in Florida.
It’s no wonder Canadians are always shocked every time the presidency goes to a Republican…...all they ever hear about are Democrats.///
Bruce
I don’t know how I missed it but I did. So here it is—a nearly two-pager —full pages— on page two and three of the Montreal Gazette yesterday.

(Part 3) Canada’s liberal media proves (again): it’s biased in favour of and obsessed with…
...liberals.
In my latest and probably final report on in my American presidential election series about how Canada’s liberal media is so liberal they don’t even know how liberal they are anymore. and how totally obsessed —perhaps instinctively or perhaps simply more purposefully, blithely driving their liberal-left agenda— here are some examples of how they covered yesterday’s New Hampshire primaries in today’s papers (and online in some cases).
For other examples of the same kind of coverage, review my previous reports [here (after Iowa) | here (before New Hampshire)]. Together they could form an excellent graphical addition to a book about the abject liberal media bias in Canada. Of course we don’t need a book, as everybody who has an ounce of honesty would admit. And that “ounce of honesty” (or more to the point, the lack thereof) is precisely why no media would admit to it, nor will they write books including my pictures.
Both the Montreal Gazette and the Saskatoon Star Phoenix deployed their amazing creativity assets in regurgitating “the good old liberal days” —the old ♥ Bill Clinton ♥ “Comeback Kid” moniker.
(Interestingly, the Edmonton Journal properly, shockingly, called both McCain and Clinton “comeback kids”!)
The liberals’ Globe and Mail joined them in liberal/creativity heaven, and once again failed to surprise us (and by the way, the giant picture in the their online story on the right is of… Obama):
The state-run CBC deployed all manner of taxpayer resources to spin the news in order to imprint liberals in your mind and help you forget that there are any Republicans in the race. Not only hideous coverage on-air (see my | reports) but online as well, using “their” web assets for articles, commentary, video and more —all graphically, blatantly pushing and drawing attention to Democrats, as you can see here unless you’re blind and stupid:
CTV.ca had a rare dual photo, but focused strongly on Democrats in their write-up, only adding a blurb about the republicans at the end
From The Nation of Quebec, it was all about L’Obama et Le Clinton, seulement:
The National Post hearts ♥ Hillary ♥ and ♥ Obama ♥ , as I’ve demonstrated time and time again. So they’re about as sure to include a picture of, say, John McCain, as I am to ignore their abject bias. This is online, and on their front cover in print:
While some media may feature pictures of both the Democrat and the Republican, when they do, they inevitably focus on Democrats in their headlines and editorial copy, and Vancouver’s The Province did this morning; And the Ottawa Citizen practically admits it couldn’t care less about Republicans—in stating as much: that the race involves only Democrats, and not Republicans, as the headline reads!:

The leftists’ Toronto Star unwittingly betrays the classic Canadian liberal media bias move: Ignoring John McCain’s meteoric comeback, they describe Clinton’s win as “storming” back; while in other publications, it was said that John McCain was “raised from the dead” (see right below these Toronto Star pictures). No difference!
The Montreal Gazette claims the old geezer Republican John McCain
was raised from his old Republican geezer grave.

Far from “Back from the Dead”, the Calgary Herald reaches out to Hillary just as their picture appears to reach out to you for a great big group hug amongst all you gals.
The Victoria Times Colonist deployed that old media trick from colonial days, wherein to graphically explain their feeling on the matter, they dig up a photo of folks in great happiness and celebration and joy to accompany the story. The Vancouver Sun’s front page was adored with a joyous ♥ Hillary ♥ and a story all about her, relegating a few paltry notes about Republican John McCain’s win to page 7.

(I guarantee you that if the Vancouver Sun could do it all over again, they wouldn’t have accidentally placed a story on raising gas taxes (again) in order to stave off “man made global warming” right next to the picture and story about ♥ Hillary ♥ on their front page!)
Outside of Canada:
Britain’s The Independent…. wasn’t. They literally depict a photo in which they’re following him… and the light… (—or is it Him?)! And the The Times chose a rather unfortunate—and ironic because it couldn’t be more incongruous—headline below the fold…

“Obama Mania”? Looks more like McCain mania… and maybe a Clinton snooze-fest
UPDATES as needed below…
Forget all the “mania” in the liberals’ media about their candidate, Democrat Barack Obama. Looks like the only “mania” that exists is in the Republican side. Republican John McCain appears at this moment to have ripped the pants off Republican Mitt Romney on the Republican side (that’s the side the media tried to ignore as best they could) and he has been declared the clear winner by Fox News Channel.
Meanwhile the liberals’ other candidate, the Democrats’ Hillary Clinton (currently leading, as I write) and their Obama are demonstrating anything BUT a “mania” of any sort, kind, type, look, model, or feel, on the Democratic side—for either of them. It’s a close race and in fact Clinton is ahead at this moment 40% - 36% with 21% of the precincts reporting. Where’s the “mania”?
The liberals’ media could scarcely have been more wrong.
But like the good news out of Iraq and the success of the Iraq surge, or good news out of Afghanistan: they won’t report this either.
UPDATE:
As of 7:30 PM PST, Associated Press has called Clinton the winner in this “Obama mania”, “Obama Fever”, “Obama’s big day”, um, race of the century. (And McCain for the Republicans). (The Republicans are the other party.)
7:33 PM PST—a TV network called it for Clinton.
7:46 PM PST—CNN calls it for Clinton.
7:46 PM PST—Fox News Channel calls it for Clinton.

CBC’s Don Newman’s “Politics” show banner: It’s a new spin: “OBAMA MANIA”!
Not to be outdone by the other CBC Newsworld spinners (see below), CBC’s own Bill O’Reilly Jr. mini-Bill wannabe (he ironically and rather embarrassingly, I should think, copies Bill O’Reilly’s “the spin stops here” motto in his publicity material), Don (”Welcome to the broa-oa-oa-oa-oa-dcast…”) Newman’s “Politics” show features this “OBAMA MANIA” banner today. It’s a whole new spin on the day’s facts!
We’ve had Obama “FEVER!”, and “It’s Obama’s BIG DAY!”, and innumerable others. Now it’s Obama “MANIA”! Build that spin, media! Shape that story!

Do you all remember the “PAT BUCHANAN MANIA” back in New Hampshire ‘96? I don’t! How about this year’s “McCAIN MANIA”? Me neither!
My head, she spins in Don’s “No Spin Zone”!

CBC’s Henry Champ likens Republicans to tobacco-chewers; anchor hopes they don’t spit
Henry Champ has been giving fairly moderate, balanced reports from New Hampshire (as he did in Iowa), despite the goading from the “news” anchors at the big desk in CBC TV HQ.
But this one exchange this morning caught my ear, because I think it betrays such a clichéd, perhaps even bigoted point-of-view among Canadian liberals regarding the Americans generally, and Republican Americans in particular. This was, I think, a most unfortunate exchange:
[10:05 AM PST]
Henry Champ: “... and now, just now, among the Republicans, you can really see a dynamic where there might be on of those cigar smoking [...loud giggles from anchor Suhana Meharchand…] tobacco-chewing conventions, where everybody says [using his best right-wing “tobacco-chewer” voice] ‘Now listen if you vote for me I’ll build you a bridge’—or whatever.”
Suhana Meharchand: “Just as long as he doesn’t spit after chewing that tobacco, Henry!”
Henry Champ: “Well there you go!”
[Later, at the end of the dialogue…]
Suhana Meharchand: “Henry always good to talk to you—I wish I was standing right beside you!”
Henry Champ: “Even with the tobacco juice?!”
Suhana Meharchand: [laughing] “Even with the tobacco juice!”
Your tax dollars at work.
*Spit*.

CBC banners: “BOOSTING OBAMA” and “OBAMA’S BIG DAY”—even while discussing McCain
State-run CBC
continues its obsession with Obama —as all the Canadian liberal-left media has done since day one—in its New Hampshire Primary coverage today, at which (in actual fact) both the Republican Party and the Democratic Party are tendering their candidates.
Even when talk turns to Republican candidates, the CBC banner continues to read: “BOOSTING OBAMA” (seriously! Unwittingly betraying their agenda? Maybe!) and “OBAMA’S BIG DAY”. I fully expected to see one reading “CBC’s ‘n ALL LIBERALS’ BIG DAY”.
.jpg)
In the first segment that I heard this morning, the CBC’s news anchor, Nancy (“very interesting!”) Wilson opened the questioning (over the banner “BOOSTING OBAMA”), with this, to her man in Washington, Henry Champ:
Nancy Wilson: Voters in a very small state could make a very big difference today! The people of New Hampshire are casting ballots in the first U.S. presidential primary. And and it looks like many of them are turning out to give Barack Obama a boost, and make him the clear front runner on the Democratic side. The CBC’s Henry Champ is in Manchester New Hampshire, and joins us now. So Henry, what exactly is behind Barack Obama’s success, as, as he sees it, and then as other people see it, Henry?
Shockingly, his answer wasn’t: Well, blatantly biased news coverage in favor of him and all Democrats, Nancy! Duh! (Actually he answered, “Well certainly charisma is one of the things, youth is another…”)
While the story went on, the screen was adorned with the “BOOSTING OBAMA” banner, later switching to “OBAMA’S BIG DAY”.
.jpg)
Then talk finally turned to a little on the Republicans in the Primary (!), yet the Obama banner stayed the same!
Note the McCain banner in back? Who cares? This be about Obama!
That’s Republican Mike Huckabee on the left, and John McCain on the right. Right above the Obama banner.
.jpg)
Strangely, in a later segment, they seemed to have cottoned onto their abject bias and lost the Obama banner, and then didn’t have anything else to say (like, for example, “McCAIN’S BIG DAY”). The banner space just went gray:
(...despite the lack of “BOOSTING OBAMA” banner, the talk was still centered on Obama anyway…)
At around 10:20 am PT, the state-run CBC interviewed yet another “expert”—this time someone who is with… the far-left Huffington Post web site (and no, there is no way on God’s green earth the CBC producers and bookers don’t know full well that the Huffington Post is a far-left web site, often attracting what even some liberals agree are the most horrible points of view from the most far-left Hollywood liberals or Marxists. I imagine much of the liberal media both in Canada and the U.S. gets its American politics news—or at least cues—from this far-left opinion web site. Clearly the state-run CBC does for its fair and balanced reporting). Of course, once again, as they always do with liberal and leftist guest experts, they introduced her as having no political label whatsoever—just as a person from the Huffington Post—so that Canadians would just accept that her far-left world view is “normal”.
That’s what the liberal media call “balanced”.

CBC guest “expert”... from the far-left-wing Huffington Post web site (but not identified as even remotely left-wing).
UPDATE:
Just after noon (PST), they welcomed conservative Pat Buchanan as a guest commentator, and despite Pat Buchanan being inarguably a much more well-known name all over North America than Rachel Sklar of the Huffington Post, they were sure to include in their introduction all of his right-wing credentials so that Canadians would know exactly where he’s coming from. It was a sort of a “warning” to viewers, methinks. Because that seems to be what they do, and how they do it.
CBC anchor David Grey: “Pat Buchanan is a true veteran of past battles in New Hampshire. He won the Republican primary over Bob Dole back in 1996. Four years earlier he was a very close second to George Bush Sr. He’s on the sidelines this time working as a political commentator, he joins me from Manchester. . .”
And by the way, talk about overstating the importance of their Barack Obama winning in New Hampshire today: As Gray said in his intro, Pat Buchanan won in New Hampshire too, back in the day. (I don’t recall any “Buchanan fever” back then…)

Job well done, liberal media! CTV.ca feigns astonishment that Canadians favour Democrats
After my having spent the past four or five years explaining how, as I see it, totally biased and unbalanced the Canadian liberal media is, and how they so favour, push the virtues of, and outright suck up to liberals, sundry leftists, and Democrats in the United States (and here); and how they denigrate conservatives generally; and after my spending quite a few minutes just in the past few days proving it yet again as I often do in this space beyond any doubt in my mind or that of any sensible person, liberalvision CTV.ca today reports with barely disguised glee that Canadians favor Democrats in the U.S. by a huge margin.
Well you don’t say.
I’m not entirely convinced that Canadians know what in tarnation the “Republican Party” is (to say nothing of their candidates), short of it being the bane of the planet’s existence and the very source of all evil (and big old anti-liberal-left if it feels good, do it lifestyle party-poopers!).
Ask Canadians if they think that’s what the Republican Party is and see what your answer is! Is the Republican Party in fact the bane of your existence, destroyer of all the Earth, squares, full of neocon nutbars and morons and other Christians, and the source of all evil; or not? Yes? Thank you for your time! Buh bye!
And to think that all of this is without the help of the liberal-leftist entertainment industry and their brethren in academia teaching our kids in public schools that Republicans—conservatives—Christians—George Bush and Dick Cheney—“neocons”—are pure evil and are knuckle-dragging stupid morons? Well it’s all just so incredible.
Surprising, in fact, as I understand it! The article’s author (a fella named “Canadian Press”) could hardly hide his or her exuberance but they tried. They started out one of their paragraphs with the words, “Perhaps most surprisingly…”.
“The survey, provided exclusively to The Canadian Press, said 49 per cent of Canadians expressed a fondness for the Democrats while only 12 per cent did the same for Republicans.”
This is of course according to a totally perfectly scientific poll conducted by… fair and balanced Canadian pollsters.
Yes, I’m so sure they are all “surprised” over there at the Canadian Press (and “most surprised” implies that other things in their report “surprised” them too! I wonder what. They don’t say.)
They’re not “surprised”. What they are, in fact, as I see it, are “clinking glasses in the bar after work”. “Feeling vindicated”. “High-fiving”. Readying their next fair and balanced report.

Canada’s liberal media proves (again): it’s biased in favour of / obsessed with…
...liberals. As I did immediately after the Iowa Caucuses, today as we approach the New Hampshire Primaries, I demonstrate how the liberal media in Canada is so liberal, they don’t even know how liberal they are anymore. I can continue by repeating almost exactly what I said last week: In some cases they don’t even realize what they’re doing in betraying their liberal-left bias and favoritism —it’s just instinctive to them; in other cases they know full well, and blithely drive their leftist agenda as if we’re all stupid.
After the Iowa Caucuses, in which both the Republicans and Democrats chose their favorites, Canada’s liberal media almost uniformly chose to feature a flattering photo of Barack Hussein Obama (they never use his middle name) in what they’d have you believe is their fair and balanced coverage.
As we approach the New Hampshire Primaries—which involve both the Democratic Party candidates for president as well as the Republican Party candidates equally, you’d never even know there was any such thing as a “Republican Party” in the United States, as judged by coverage in the liberal-left—liberal-obsessed—Canadian Media. Here’s some of today’s coverage:
Calgary Herald and Edmonton Journal is all about Obama and Clinton (both Democrats), again. Where are the Republicans?:
This is the Globe and Mail front cover page. They actually mention a Republican, but in the context of him being an old fart, while Obama is a shiny new “fresh blood” (and featuring a fresh, happy-looking Obama in a photo); but in their online version it’s all about Obama and how the world is “flocking” to his side. “Flocking”! But where are the Republicans?:
(...and online the flocking begins —or is that “fleecing”?...)

The Ottawa Citizen and the Windsor Star-Pheonix are in love with Democrats;
nearly completely ignore Republicans:
The liberal-left’s Toronto Star falls right into line both in their print version’s front cover, and online, in which they declare that there’s such a thing as “Obama fever”. And I’m sure they didn’t mean it in the “Bush Derangement Syndrome” kind of way either! But where are the Republicans, pray tell?:
The liberals’ Vancouver Sun makes a special effort to imprint Democrats on their readers while helping them forget all about Republicans; while in Saskatchistan, the Regina Leader-Post couldn’t find any communists to support. Where are the Republicans?:
The Windsor Star reminds us that Obama’s a luva, not a fighta!; and the Montreal Gazette is high on Clinton, and possibly getting “buzzed” on other drugs as well:
The National Post, which is in love with both ♥ Clinton ♥ and Obama ♥ and don’t even know what the Republicans look like because they cover them so rarely, is about to propose to both Clinton and Obama after they take off their kid cloves:
Meanwhile, for once the liberals’ bible, the New York Times (from which nearly all liberal media take their cue), chose a rare neutral stance on their cover, unlike nearly all the Canadian liberal media. This stance will last until tomorrow.
And CTV.ca has taken a fairly neutral approach as well, so far.
And if the left-wing, state-run CBC can do it, anybody can. “Obama, McCain make surges in N.H. polls” is their online headline (even if their on-air reporting favors Obama, Clinton—or any Democrats they can mention, while positioning Republicans as dead in the water).

Democratic Fundraiser Norman Hsu Sentenced to 3 Years for Fraud. Where’s the coverage?
Not a few minutes after I switched from the left-wing state-run CBC to the far superior fair and balanced Fox News Channel, I learned that Democratic Party and Clinton funder Norman Hsu has been sent to jail for fraud today.
From FoxNews.com: Democratic Fundraiser Norman Hsu Sentenced to 3 Years in Calif. Fraud Case.
Here’s some old Boston Globe coverage:
Hsu raised big money for Clinton supporters
Candidates she courted benefit
Disgraced fund-raiser Norman Hsu did a lot more than just pump $850,000 into Hillary Clinton’s campaign bank account: He also raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local, state, and federal candidates who have endorsed Clinton or whose support she courted.
A major fund-raiser for Democrats since 2003, Hsu became one of Clinton’s biggest bundlers - gathering scores of individual checks and sending them to her campaign. ...
If anyone sees anything about this in any of Canada’s media, .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Canada’s liberal media proves (again): it’s biased in favour of / obsessed with… liberals
As I’ve often said, Canada’s liberal media is now so culturally liberal-left—right down to their core—that they don’t even know how liberal they are anymore. In some cases they don’t even realize what they’re doing in betraying their liberal-left bias and favoritism —it’s just instinctive to them; in other cases they know full well, and blithely drive their leftist agenda as if we’re all stupid.
After the Iowa Caucuses, in which both the Republicans and Democrats chose their favorites, Canada’s liberal media almost uniformly chose to feature a flattering photo of Barack Hussein Obama (they never use his middle name) in what they’d have you believe is their fair and balanced coverage.
Here’s Obama in the Regina Star Phoenix; and online at Cnews.ca:

CNews.ca’s online poll even featured an exciting Obama theme:
Here he is at the state-run CBC.ca. Shocka. :
Here he is in the Vancouver Sun and the Windsor Star:
Here he is on the cover at the liberals’ Globe and Mail
in one of those warm family shots; and on La Press’s cover:
Le Soleil and the liberal-leftists’ Toronto Star
practically had to rename their papers L’Obama and Barrack Star
There were also those which managed to squeak a picture of Mike Huckabee on the cover, but only with one of Obama too—or better yet (for them), Obama, Hillary and Edwards—all Democrats of course.
The Montreal Gazette took at shot at fair and balanced in a teaser box;
while the Ottawa Citizen also managed a two-fer:
While the Globe and Mail featured only Obama on their print edition,
online they managed to squeeze Huckabee into the picture.
The London Free Press featured Obama, third-place finisher
Hillary Clinton, and John Edwards—all Democrats
Not to be outdone, the liberal-lefts’ state-owned CBC Newsworld has covered the Obama win to death so far this morning.
• 8:45 PT (or so): Early this morning, they featured a university professor. The Canadian media is utterly obsessed with university professors, and I’m almost sure it’s because they are reliably left-wing or even outright Marxists, and can thus be counted on to present the right spin according to the liberal media, for those of you who are uninformed or perhaps naive (which is how the media seems to view all their viewers) and therefore impressed by university professors. The interview went something like this: Bush is obviously enormously disliked or even detested, especially by Canadians as if that makes any difference, and therefore the name of the game is beating him. Apparently it’s unclear to them that he isn’t running. Nonetheless, the Republicans have created a “sluggish” economy (notwithstanding the most amazing, booming economy that they have enjoyed —since soon after 9/11 no less). And things aren’t going well in America, at all!
Here’s a tiny bit of another “hard-hitting” Nancy Wilson follow-up question (my highlighting, obviously):
Nancy Wilson: That’s interesting because certainly I suppose to some extent, Republicans are mindful if not downright haunted by George Bush —certainly Canadians keep hearing about how unpopular the Bush administration continues to be —that must be the kiss of death going into the election campaign, so how daunting is it for ANY Republican candidate to win the White House at this stage?
Professor: Well, uh, some candidates do believe in miracles!....
[Wilson laughs]
• 9:12 AM PT (approximately) —Then they featured a black man named Roland, who was asked about…. Obama! (Exclusively). He is the author of a book called “Speak Brother—a Black Man’s View of America”. He was clearly a strong Obama supporter. The state-run CBC’s producers could not have had a clue about this predilection for Obama.
• 9:35 PT (approx) —A little later, they featured a black woman who is a spokesman for the National Council of Negro Women and was so clearly an Obama supporter that she practically spit with excitement as she spoke, so excited was she over Obama’s win. This time the “very interesting” angle was—how might Oprah’s support for Obama be helping Obama? So you can imagine how that interview went. Anchor Nancy (“very interesting!”) Wilson asked questions clearly designed to lead her to say supportive things about Obama, and then largely sat there and let her guest drone on and on… followed by still more fluffball, leading questions… for endless minutes. At one point, the guest seemingly mocked Mike Huckabee for getting the support of Hollywooder Chuck Norris, while Obama has the apparently God-like (to her) Oprah support. Nancy Wilson concluded with: “very very interesting!”—adding that extra “very” as she often does.
• 10:02 (approx)—The CBC’s man in Washington, Henry Champ, gave a reasonable balanced view, but I still think it was tilted toward Obama and other Democrats. They featured speeches by Obama, Clinton, and Edwards—all Democrats. He later spoke about Republican winner Mike Huckabee and showed a clip, but once again, mostly spoke in terms of how he’s a Republican and how he ipso facto has a difficult job ahead of him.
• 10:20 (approx)—Another interview featuring a fair and balanced expert. His name? Jeffrey Feldman. HE WRITES FOR “THE DAILY KOS”—one of the most rabidly left-wing blogs in America. The Daily Kos is very, very well known—celebrated among liberals—and to anyone who is even remotely paying attention —as a rabidly anti-Bush, anti-conservative, anti-everything-conservatives-stand-for blog. I mean rabidly so. If the CBC producers missed the obvious about the Daily Kos being left-wing, they also missed Feldman’s declaration of bias from just yesterday, there at the Daily Kos: “Whoever prevails in the caucuses (I have my ideas), one thing is certain: I am proud of our side [his bolding]. The Democratic Party…”. Was he introduced that way on CBC Newsworld for our benefit? No! Of course not. He was introduced like this, by the anchor, Andrew Nichols: ”...one political prognosticator… a professor at New York University—he’s also an author and a political blogger.” That was it. No particular label.
The anchor, Andrew Nichols, holds a Master of Journalism degree from Carleton University in Ottawa.
This particular interview has since been repeated in the exceedingly boring rotation at CBC Newsworld. So far, no conservative bloggers have been interviewed as far as I know, but I’m quite sure we’ll be very well informed as to their “conservative”, “Christian-right”, “right-wing”, “religious-right”, or “nutbar” status or bias, if they do (but they won’t). So as usual, for a little bit of sanity and balance, and a bit of a waker-upper, I’m heading over to the superb Fox News Channel —the best channel in Canada.

A wee wrinkle in the honesty, Hillary?
Here’s a picture of Hillary Clinton taken at a recent campaign stop. It’s not particularly flattering, nor the most egregious snap one could possibly find. It just shows her as she looked at that moment, on that day. Those high-def cameras are not our friends, sometimes.

Now here’s a screen-capture I just made from her latest warm ‘n fuzzy video and TV ad, produced for airing yesterday in Iowa and on her web site, in anticipation of the Iowa Caucuses. Those high-tech techniques are our friends, sometimes.

Not that there’s anything particularly wrong with airbrushing or applying eighteen layers of pancake makeup and perhaps a little Polyfilla in order to, shall we say “alter” the way in which people see you —or what some folks might call “faking people out”. Maybe they all do it. I don’t know.
I report: you decide.

Canadian media covers the DEMOCRATIC PARTY side of the Iowa caucuses
UPDATE: Added feedback, below, from the official state tech expert, the state-run media’s Jess Hirsh (or jess hirsh—sans capitalization—as he types it in his email’s signature).

I already mentioned the Iowa Caucuses that are taking place today south of the line. But the Canadian liberals’ news media coverage of it here is hilariously biased, at least so far this morning. They speak of it as though it’s a Democratic Party-only caucus. Democrats are painfully clearly all they care about.
So far this morning, on both the horribly left-wing biased state-run CBC (“Newsworld”) and liberalvision CTV (“Newsnet”), they’ve covered, at length, the campaigns of Clinton, Obama, and Edwards—all Democrats. The CBC gave only short shrift to Mike Huckabee, Republican, so far, from what I’ve seen.
Even when the CBC moved on to cover the internet angle of the campaigning and how it’s being played out, anchor Nancy (“very interesting!”) Wilson teased the segment with “Who’s more internet savvy? Clinton? Obama? Or somebody else?! “
Then discussion turned to the official state internet / tech “expert”, Jesse Hirsh. He’s the one who once called the extreme far-left Rabble.ca web site and discussions forum (one of the most far left-wing web sites in all of North America) among the best “blogs” in Canada; and informed Canadians that it represents “a real pulse” in terms of how people are thinking across our country —without ever once mentioning the word “communists” (also see here). He condescended to us and Mizz Wilson and presumed to explain politics to what he apparently thinks are total morons (that’s you ‘n me!). As if oblivious to the hideousness of the dialogue, Wilson nonetheless constantly asked him about the politics angle rather than the tech angle, as if this young tech “expert” was a political guru, which he ever-so plainly is not (see above). It was a dreadful display. But funny!

UPDATE: E-mail feedback from the state-run media’s Jesse Hirsh:

Subject: no comments allowed?Saw you were slandering me on your site and I wanted to post a comment in my own defence, yet I see you do not allow any? How come?
My main point was to say that just because you disagree with my politics does not mean you should totally disregard what I’m saying. Had you paid attention to my points today, you would have noticed I spoke mostly about Republicans, with admiration, and indicated that for the most part they were the ones most effectively using the Internet.
It’s one thing to use your site to insult me, it’s another to not give me the opportunity to respond.
-jesse hirsh
Who said I wouldn’t give him the opportunity to respond? The technology is vast! But then he’d know that.
Mr. Hirsh points out in his email that he did mention Republicans in his interview, and their having used the internet effectively. Yes he did. I’m so sorry.
UPDATE TWO:
1.)
Mr. Hirsh later acknowledged my fairness and thanked me.
2.)
I found that as the day went on, coverage on both the state-run CBC and on liberalvision CTV improved a great deal, providing much more balance in coverage. Perhaps they got phone calls, or they just felt silly.
