Team Obama morphs prestigious Presidential Seal into Orwellian Obamaton seal

Written by Joel Johannesen on Saturday June 21 2008 at 08:59 AM

image This is all over the blogosphere which usually means I shun it, but I’d already worked on the graphics and links and what not without getting around to posting it, so here it is…

Obama seems to be experimenting with a new logo.  Usually, his podium is graced with a “Change” board to drill that concept into your heads.  Trouble with the new podium messaging is that it’s a blatant rip-off of the prestigious Presidential Seal, changed to suit the new post-modern Obamatons.  Obviously an attempt to get you thinking he’s “presidential”.  See it in full here and here.

Among the subtle changes, the eagle is modified to contain the Obama O logo as seen all over his campaign web pages; and the Presidential Seal’s Latin “E Pluribus Unum” (Out of Many, One) is replaced with the Obamatonian “Vero possumus”, which means Truly we’re able, or reduced down a little in the Obama kitchen crock pot, Yes we can, an Obama campaign’s slogan (in case ya hadn’t heard).

Methinks he should reconsider the Vero possumus since it almost sounds like a weird way of saying he’s very much like an opposum, which of course he is.

I’m all about the humor and the light-hearted, and yes I do realize this isn’t quite the end of the world, but this just isn’t funny and moreover it is in real bad taste, belonging on a satire web site like The Onion or some such.  It actually kind of creeps me out.  Thousand bucks says they’ll drop it after the carpet bombing it’s getting in blog land.

EXTRA - FROM THE BANQUET TABLE of OBAMA DELIGHTS:

I liked this short YouTube video Obama compilation because it reminded me of the Canadian videos I used to always make but don’t anymore because they’re real time-killers (send money).  And by the way, a whole lot more could be added to this video as the astute non-CBC-viewers among you will agree…

• If you think this site is of no value, then don't pay anything for it, and it will fade into the sunset. That's capitalism at work.
