PTBC J-Log
A conservative OPINION blog --with bite. OPINION by Joel Johannesen.Wednesday, June 03, 2009
Bin Laden says Obama “planted the seeds of hatred”. Not Bush? Huh.
On the occasion of President Barack Obama’s visit to the middle east, Osama bin Laden says, on his al-Jazeera TV network (coincidentally the network that several former CBC employees migrated to), that Obama has planted the seeds of “revenge and hatred”.
So it wasn’t Bush after all?
Golly. What are we to think now? You mean we in the sober, clear-thinking set were right all along? It had utterly nothing to do with Bush, and it was just America, The West, and all our values that they hate so much?
.jpg)
Well the fellas who are busy writing the history books aren’t going to like this very much. Maybe they’ll be too busy writing anti-Bush history and won’t see, hear, or read today’s news. Or at least in any case they’ll do that see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil thing that the monkeys do. Actually, if all they watched was CBC news, and I’m absolutely sure that’s all they watch, then they won’t know about Bin Laden’s words either, since in their coverage today concerning Obama’s mid-east visit, CBC made no mention of Osama’s accusation that Obama “planted the seeds”.
This is the National Post’s coverage, which uses a Reuters story, which is equally available to CBC:
DUBAI—Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden said U.S. President Barack Obama had planted the seeds of “revenge and hatred” towards the United States in the Muslim world and warned Americans to prepare for the consequences.
Bin Laden’s remarks, aired on Wednesday by Al Jazeera television, came a day after comments by his deputy who described Mr. Obama as a criminal and warned Muslims not to fall for his polished words.
[...]
“Obama and his administration have planted seeds for hatred and revenge against America,” the Saudi-born bin Laden said in the audio recording.
[...]
Mr. Obama’s policies in Pakistan had raised “animosity” among Muslims, he said.
FUNNY THING IS… (by which I mean funny in that CBC news misinformation kind of way)... The CBC.ca web site of ugliness and misinformation (through, in this case, a glaring omission of important, factual detail) says this in their
story of Obama’s middle-east trip — leaving out the words used by Bin Laden (“Obama and his administration have planted seeds for hatred and revenge against America.”):
Bin Laden tape surfaces
His arrival at Riyadh on Wednesday coincided with a release of an audio tape purportedly recorded by Osama Bin Laden.
In the tape, broadcast by Al-Jazeera television, al-Qaeda’s leader says Obama has inflamed hatred toward the United States through his actions in Pakistan. The recording criticized the U.S. leader for pushing Pakistan to crack down on militants in the northwestern Swat Valley and block the imposition of Islamic law.
The authenticity of the tape could not be immediately verified.
On Tuesday, al-Qaeda’s second in command, Ayman al-Zawahiri, denounced Obama’s visit on an audio recording posted on hardline jihadist websites.
“His bloody messages were received and are still being received by Muslims, and they will not be concealed by public relations campaigns or by farcical visits or elegant words,” al-Zawahiri said.
The CBC Funky NewsWorld also failed to mention that whole Obama “sowing the seeds of hatred” thing. In fact they seemed bent on skirting those seedy words completely, leaving open the possibility that this is yet another problem that the poor Mr. Obama “inherited” from Mr. Bush.
So if all you watched was CBC, you wouldn’t be fully informed. In actual fact I think it’s worse than simply not being fully informed.
EXTRA:
Aside from National Post, CTV News also covered the important fact that Bin Laden said Obama “planted the seeds of hatred”, in their story headlined “Bin Laden threatens Americans in new tape”. They added new seeds:
“Obama and his administration have sown new seeds to increase hatred and revenge on America,” bin Laden said. “The number of these seeds is equal to the number of displaced people from Swat Valley.”
So it’s also new seeds, the precise number of which matches the number of people displaced in Obama’s bombing of Pakistan (that’s the Swat Valley reference) — bombing which, as we have found out, Obama does without reading the victims their sacred Miranda Rights first, which is quite surprising given his anti-Bush war-criminal rhetoric. No monkey business at CTV at least.
