A conservative OPINION blog --with bite. OPINION by Joel Johannesen.Thursday, June 18, 2009
CTV caught in deception: fail to mention prostitute-user Eliot Spitzer was a DEMOCRAT, but now…
...John Ensign, a U.S. Senator who admitted having an extra-marital affair, this week, is all over the CTV news web site as, you guessed it, a REPUBLICAN. They subtly mentioned it nine times. The word “conservative” was also mentioned, an additional five times. And just for good measure, they mentioned “Christian” as well.
Here’s the actual CTV story on Eliot Spitzer from March 10, 2008, in which they failed to mention “Democratic” even once:

Not one mention that he’s a DEMOCRAT. Not one. No, not “liberal”, no, not “Democrat”, and no, not “left-leaning” or “left-of-center”.
Now here’s yesterday’s CTV report on John Ensign, in which they mention “Republican” nine times, and “conservative” five times, oh yeah and also “Christian”:

First words? “conservative Republican”. Sorry —actually the headline itself informs us “Rising Republican senator admits to affair with aide”
“Rising Republican senator admits to affair with aide”
LAS VEGAS—Just two weeks after taking the first steps toward a 2012 presidential bid, conservative Republican Sen. John Ensign of Nevada is admitting to an extramarital affair last year…
As I said, they went on to mention “Republican” NINE TIMES, and in addition, the word “conservative” FIVE TIMES, and of course “Christian”, yesterday.
The state-owned CBC is horrible by all accounts, as usual. As I documented in a past blog entry called “DEMOCRAT Governor of New York set to resign amidst prostitution claim. Media doesn’t mention DEMOCRAT”, here are three stories on DEMOCRAT politicians in which the CBC was sure to identify “Republicans”:
• CBC’s story on **Republican**:
http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2007/08/29/craig-support.html
• Another CBC story on **Republican**:
http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2007/09/10/us-senator.html
• Another CBC story on **Republican**:
http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2006/10/20/foley-priest.html
And those are just the ones I could quickly find. In that same blog entry I pointed this out, re Eliot Spitzer and the CBC:
“CBC finally on it. FAILS TO MENTION DEMOCRAT EVEN ONCE”.
They eventually changed their story, as I noted in that blog entry:
CBC Changes story—tags “Democratic” onto end of story.
THEIR ORIGINAL 3:47 PM STORY:
He was best known for his investigations into Wall Street crimes, such as bid rigging and other fraudulent practices, Spitzer’s website says.
With files from the Associated Press
THEIR 5:09 PM REVISION:
He was best known for his investigations into Wall Street crimes in the wake of the Enron, WorldCom and Adelphia collapses, and was once touted as a possible Democratic contender for the U.S. presidency.
With files from the Associated Press
Here’s more about Spitzer and CBC and others, in a followup blog entry from me: Eliot Spitzer still a Democrat; media still ignores that fact. Still not called “SpitzerGate” by CBC.
Here’s still another one: U.S. media shares Canadian media perfidy in purposely not mentioning Spitzer is a liberal DEMOCRAT.
The CBC has yet to report on this Ensign story today, but stand by for it, and of course for the word “REPUBLICAN” and if at all possible, “Christian”, to appear within it.
The National Post is on it, with the word “Republican” splashed all over the story. It seems to me there’s nothing they won’t do to discredit Republicans and protect Democrats.
Also see today’s exposure of the truth and the media perfidy by the Media Research Center:
He’s No Spitzer: ABC, CBS, NBC All Brand Ensign a ‘Republican’
