A conservative OPINION blog --with bite. OPINION by Joel Johannesen.Wednesday, May 28, 2008
Joel’s NewsQuips - May 28 2008
Among the most ridiculous headlines of the day; “Amnesty targets Canada’s human rights record”
...but Amnesty is totally cool with Syria’s and Venezuela’s and Iran’s and North Korea’s record, by comparison.
Amnesty should target Canada’s asinine human rights excesses.

An article about the feigned indignation amongst the left over the Maxime Bernier firing includes this sentence; “Why do you sit on your duffs and do nothing for five weeks?”
The umbrageous questioner was the Liberal I call “Bare Ass” Bob Rae, exhibiting no end of asininity and no clue as to the irony he creates.
Here’s a right back atcha: Why did you choose to drop trou and expose your fat naked duff on national (state-owned CBC) television, and then still expect to be a world leader and my great county’s leader?

“Ex-aide’s book has harsh words for Bush” —The liberals’ Toronto Star
“Bush slammed in former press secretary’s memoir”—Liberalvision CTV.ca
“Former press secretary’s book bashes Bush”—The liberals’ Globe and Mail
“White House Reacts Angrily to Former Aide’s Book”—The liberals’ sacred New York Times
First the liberals’ media insists that Bush and his entire administration are a bunch of lying idiots—the press constantly pummeled McClellan as a useless piñata at the time—then they praise and pump a book by one disgruntled “lying” “idiot” as one which surely possesses Biblical truth.

“Al Qaeda Supporters’ Tape to Call for Use of WMDs” —ABCNews.com headline.
Phew. Good thing there aren’t any. (snarf)

According to an article in their New York Times division:
The Democratic Party is struggling to raise money for its convention in Denver on Aug. 25-28, with fund-raising by the host committee falling far short of the party’s goals and lagging behind the Republicans’ efforts for their convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul.
In other words, this is a news article, dammit, but if you send money to the Dems, why that’s out of our control, Jack.

According to one news media report, Canada’s “Information Commissioner” received 536 complaints regarding the state-owned CBC in 2007-2008, more than any other department or agency of our gigantic, massively over-sized Canadian government. The Department of National Defence was a distant second with less than half—256 complaints.
What’s more, the state media behemoth only became subject to the Access to Information Act on September 1, 2007. That’s because the Liberals shielded them from such matters throughout their rule, for some odd reason, and it was only when Conservatives came to power that this branch of the government was finally exposed to some public accountability. The accountability move drove many liberals in this country crazy. And many quite possibly remain rather nervous. (NOTE: I read it here. Hat tip to Steyr from Ottawa for the heads up.)
