Liberals appoint new Senators. Call two of them “Progressive Conservatives”?

The Liberals have finally, after dithering forever about it, appointed nine new Senators to the upper chamber.

Oh thank goodness.  Now our country is whole again.  Well not in the “unity” sense of course; OK nor in any other way actually.

Usually the Liberals, when they’re redefining our nation and molding it to their liking, only appoint other liberals with a big old capital ‘L’, just they usually do when they appoint liberals to the state-run censor (the CRTC division of the Liberal Party); and the state-run media (the CBC division of the Liberal Party); oh and the Supreme Court of Canada division of the Liberal Party as well.  And to every state-run corporation and agency and board and division and bureaucratic office and committee.

This time they tried to do something different.  They appointed a socialist from the NDP, Dr. Lillian Eva Dyck, for the very first time, but she was quickly renounced by the NDP itself, who have embarrassingly disowned this socialist for some reason.  Perhaps she’s in favor of capitalism or private property rights and as such is stinking up their kumbaya meetings. She’s a Doctor of Psychiatry—so maybe she’ll simply on to them.

They also appointed two other non Liberal Party members, who they decided to call “Progressive Conservatives” in some new twist on Liberal redefining of our nation and its traditions.  You see, there is no such thing as the Progressive Conservative Party in Canada as a federal party.  No matter.  The new rule probably “flows from” something or it’s “progressive” or it’s a “human right” or “something” or “other”.  Someone get COTLER!

maybe Liberals just so love the word “progressive”, they can’t stop using it.  Well either that, or after the Conservative Party convention last weekend, they resolved that the Conservative Party was in fact just another “progressive” (read: liberal) party.  Fair enough.

The Liberals apparently refuse to appoint any of the duly elected senate nominees that were elected in Alberta elections.  TOO progressive!
