Obama tanks in latest approval ratings; Canada’s Conservatives rocket upward in latest poll

What a great way to start the week, with liberals tanking in both counties, despite the media.

In the U.S., President Obama has reached a new low in the approval index, at 14.

And from the Washington Times

… recent polling conducted jointly by The Washington Post and ABC News.

That poll said that 49 percent of Americans now express confidence that Obama will make the right decisions for the country, down from 60 percent at the 100-day mark in his presidency. Forty-nine percent say they think he will be able to spearhead significant improvements in the health care system, down nearly 20 percentage points from before he took office, the poll reported.

… Gallup reported that its polling has found public approval of Congress at its lowest reading since February. Gallup’s Aug. 6-9 survey found 31 percent of Americans approve of the job Congress is doing while 62 percent disapprove.  …

And in Canada, the National Post reports:

The Conservatives now command 39% in support among decided voters, compared with 28% for the Liberals, according to the survey, conducted exclusively for Canwest News Service and Global National by Ipsos Reid. Since the last Ipsos poll two months ago, the Tories have climbed five percentage points, while the Grits have slumped seven points.

Meanwhile, the CTV is still featuring this Friday article headlined “Que. Liberals get photos snapped for election posters”

And in it, the you’ve got to be kidding party’s leader Jack Layton reads the tea leaves.  Sorry, he misreads the tea leaves.  As if he were out to prove yet again just exactly how out of touch he is with reality, and regular Canadians, Layton was saying that people are fed up with the Harper government and want it defeated. image Of course in the real world, where people can see enormous elephants in the very room they’re in, the polls all (and always) indicate only that Canadians are actually fed up with and have no time for Jack Layton and the NDP, and have said time and again that they will ensure he and they will be soundly defeated in every election;  and the last two elections and the latest poll show that Harper and the Conservatives won, and would likely win, yet another election.  So what else is he dead wrong about?

I think Layton is reading marijuana leaves instead of tea leaves.

Helpful hint: Tea leaf on right, marijuana leaf on left.  Review for future reference.
