Orwellian Liberal government in BC channels message through Suzuki and other interest groups

Huh.  Sounds fascist to me.

‘Validators’ endorse Liberals’ tax bill even before public sees it

Vaughn Palmer, Vancouver Sun

VICTORIA – The first indication of the B.C. Liberal script for the day arrived shortly after 9 a.m.

“Carbon tax legislation introduced today,” said the electronic press release from a Vancouver-based advocacy group.

The self-styled Voters Taking Action on Climate Change went on to say that the Opposition New Democratic Party “should get onside” with this “important milestone” and “throw its support behind this measure, in the interest of all British Columbians and the planet’s future.”

Though the wording suggested the tax bill was already tabled, the release anticipated what would unfold in the legislature by several hours.

A second ahead-of-its time announcement arrived via e-mail at 1:30 p.m. “B.C. Environment groups applaud carbon tax legislation” declared the David Suzuki Foundation on behalf of itself and 15 other activist organizations.

The release further advised that “Finance Minister Carole Taylor introduced the Carbon Tax Act into the legislature this afternoon,” though that wouldn’t happen for another 30 minutes or so.

It has become commonplace for B.C. governments to try to “validate” their actions by lining up interest groups to declare support as measures are introduced or soon afterward.

But on this occasion the Liberals had staged-managed a rare before-the-fact validation, with the validators endorsing the thing to be validated before it was made public in the legislature.

Lest you get the urge to start snuggling up (intellectually) to columnist Vaughn Palmer, who used the Orwellian (my word) descriptor ‘Validators’ in the headline and his column, don’t bother.  Attempting to get on side intellectually with Mr. Palmer would be a mistake.  Mr. Palmer takes the opportunity to make a point of informing us in this column that Liberal Premier Campbell was once a climate change “denier”.  Again that’s a “denier”.  He glibly writes, “Premier Gordon Campbell was in the camp of climate change deniers.”

Clearly the liberal-left Orwellian tendentious information and think right or we’ll marginalize you using intellectually dishonest literal devices! syndrome has spread to him, as he himself validates it.
