image 1. MOONING OBJECTIVE JOURNALISM
Two quick and easy and educational reads on the ongoing media love affair with their Obama.  FIRST: See this column today by the very bright light Jonas Goldberg (author of the great “Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left, From Mussolini to the Politics of Change”) on Obama’s Honeymoon and the “obsequious press corps”.  Here’s a snippet:

…What we’re seeing here is more like a gaggle of aging love-struck groupies following Jon Bon Jovi around.

Though no one’s idea of an objective reporter, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews does express the euphoria nicely. On “The Tonight Show,” he told Jay Leno that the Obamas “are really cool. They are Jack and Jackie Kennedy when you see them together. They are cool. And they’re great looking, and they’re cool and they’re young, and they’re—everything seems to be great. I know I’m selling them now. I’m not supposed to sell, OK? … But the fact is, I wouldn’t be an honest reporter if I didn’t tell you what the spiritual experience is like of being in a Barack Obama rally.” …

How do you think his coverage of Obama’s presidency is going to go?

2.    And WHO DO THEY THINK THEY ARE?  THE CBC?
SECOND, Read this article about last night’s OBAMA PRESS CONFERENCE, in which Professor Obama took ten long-winded minutes to answer the first softball question from the suck-up media, and several minutes for each additional question thereafter, making it more of a series of lectures and extremely partisan political talking points than the Q&A it was sold as.  But most importantly, they have officially begun their image attempt to elevate FAR-LEFT OPINION MEDIA —like the far left Huffington Post (seriously!)  —into the realm of legitimate and respected news “journalism”.  Team Obama even scripted the taking of a question from a left-wing talk-radio show host.  Can you just imagine if Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh were allowed into that room, and what a fuss it would stir up among the “journalists” in that room last night?  It would have been all over the “news” today.  And of course they planted the old leftist bag Helen Thomas right up there on the front row, who proceeded to call terrorists “so-called terrorists”, much as the far-left CBC in Canada calls the war on terror the “so-called war on terror” (at least during the Bush administration).

Analysis: Obama Appeals to Liberal Media in First Prime Time Press Conference

…Clearly, President Obama was making a point of showing deference to the Left at his first prime-time press conference, which was broadcast to millions from the stately East Room of the White House on Monday.

[…]

Obama also called on Sam Stein of the Huffington Post, a hard-left Web site that has never before been recognized by a president. Stein asked whether Obama would pursue “prosecution of Bush administration officials.”

Critics pointed out that Bush never showcased right-wing bloggers or columnists at press conferences. And he certainly never allowed right-wing radio hosts to sit in the front row.

“What if Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh were up front at Bush’s press conferences in the East Room?” asks media critic Michael Calderone of Politico.

image3.  THESE BOOTS ARE MADE FOR WALKING!
I like this 1995 quote from Irving Kristol, a conservative thinker, which serves as a warning of sorts to the Conservative Party of Canada, though it of course alludes to the Republicans in the U.S.:

“American conservatism is a movement, a popular movement, not a faction within any political party. Though, inevitably, most conservatives vote Republican, they are not party loyalists and the party has to woo them to win votes. This movement is issue oriented. It will happily meld with the Republican party if the party is ‘right’ on the issues; if not, it will walk away.”

4. I’M IN THE LATTER CATEGORY
A pearl of wisdom from Rush“Two Americas watched the president’s press conference. One America (led by the Drive-By Media) was dazzled by the supposed brilliance. The rest of us thought he sounded like Castro.”

5. HOW LIBERALS THINK
Liberal Democratic Party Senator Chuck Schumer, the third-ranking Democrat in the Senate behind Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin, on all of what he ADMITS is “pork” in Obama’s socialist spending bill (he called all that pork “little tiny porky amendments”):  well the American people just “don’t care” about that.  Once again that’s (quote, unquote) “The American people really don’t care.”

6.  … maybe more coming… maybe not…
