RATINGS: CBC utterly fails, as usual, to attract Canadian viewers, but costs us billions

As is almost always the case since I started tracking this stuff years ago (using actual statistics and factual data instead of simply relying on liberal-leftist, ideologically-based socialist and progressive and CBC fanboy idiocy), in the latest ratings, the state-owned, socialism-reliant CBC fails to capture the attention of the citizens of Canada, except for their presentation of hockey games.  And on that score, I like to point out that the state-owned, taxpayer-funded CBC bids for the rights to broadcast hockey games against citizen-owned broadcast networks, and has most often won the bid, shockingly enough — using your taxpayer money — against the private citizen-owned network bids. Naturally, privately-owned networks could easily broadcast hockey games, and want to, and are willing to. The CBC competes against the citizens of Canada.

This time, as is almost always the case, the CBC fails to find itself in even the top-30 of TV shows in Canada (except for hockey).  The citizens of Canada once again choose private network news (CTV News always wins), and most Canadians favor American shows over Canadian ones with the frequent exception of the CTV show Corner Gas, starring Canadian Brent Butt and others.  This time, since Corner Gas has been canceled (reportedly Brent Butt’s own decision), no Canadian shows appear in the top-30, except Canadian news shows.  This, despite the countless millions upon millions of dollars — countless billions over the years — that the government “invests” (wink!) in order to social-engineer the country and create a “Canadian culture” for us —the apparent rationale being that folks in Canada are too idiotic to create their own correct culture, and so government must do it for them.

EXTRA INTERESTING FACTOID:
I recently heard that the Americans’ space shuttle missions cost about $450 MILLION each.  And now they are being cancelled.

The Canadian state-owned CBC gets about $1.5 BILLION per year in taxpayer funding (direct funding and funding for various state-subsidized productions that the CBC “buys”, with your money).  So Canada could fund three space shuttle missions per year instead of the idiotic CBC, every year.  Inasmuch as I very credibly contend that watching the CBC actually makes you dumber by the second; and space shuttle missions arguably makes the world smarter, the space shuttle option makes eminently more sense to me.

JOEL JOHANNESEN’S CBC MANTRA:
•  State-owned and state-run media should be banned in this country, and that notion enshrined in the constitution.
•  And my question:  What kind of government competes against its own citizens for profits, for attention, for market share, and in the forum of ideas —especially politics?
•  Please remember to have a peak at the PTBC CBC-Taxpayer-Waste-o-Meter!
