Standing up for… far liberal-leftist fundamentalism

PTBC contributor Marc scoured a few of the far left labor union sites this morning looking for their take on the Conservatives’ most excellent budget—as it pertains to their dismissal of the leftists’ child care plans which of course died with their failure in the last election.  And he found exactly what he thought he’d find.  Faux altruism.  They’re predictable!

He made notes beside key sentences:

[Canadian Union of Public Employees]

“Far from “Standing up for Canada”, Harper’s first budget lays out a plan for the federal government to walk out on important areas of national responsibility.”  [- children are a national responsibility?]

“There is absolutely nothing in this budget that will build the quality early learning and child care program children and families deserve,” [- early learning (—-wink!)]

“Canadians should not be fooled. Insisting on tax cuts today will lead to program cuts tomorrow,” [- Canadians aren’t fooled, the “useful leftist idiots” are though]

The next site seemed to practically admit to being complicit in the scheme for their own selfish reasons:

[Canadian Union of Public Employees – Ontario]

“The CUPE Ontario president, representing more than 200,000 working women and men — including about 5,000 child care workers — is calling on the premier to publicly demand that Harper’s budget include the multi-year funding of $1.2 billion to build a high quality, accessible, affordable community-based child care system.”

And the Ontario Public Service Employees Union is also simply being altruistic ( —wink!):

[Ontario Public Service Employees Union]

“Child care is about equality. When women are at work, they need to know that their children are safe and in an environment where they will learn and flourish.” [- they will learn (—-wink!)]

“Extra money may help cover a few supplies, but fails to give parents any peace of mind while they’re working.” [- because they must work…and, of course, pay their union dues…]

“Together we must say no to governments that cut gains women have made.” [- the victim impact statement]

The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario is making use of the latest buzz word that the “progressives” are employing these days:  “investing”.  That’s code for spending more massive sums of taxpayer cash on still more big huge government programs and making government bigger yet.  Just so ya know!

Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario

“Investing in our youngest children in the early years represents the most far-reaching and responsible investment we can make in Canada’s future. Research suggests that as many as one-quarter of Canada’s young children may be developmentally vulnerable at school entry.” – and even more vulnerable at younger ages [(—-wink!)]
