In my ongoing common sense and history and tradition all-Canadian crusade to stop the liberals, the leftists, you know, the “progressives”, from incrementally asininely taking the Christmas out of Christmas because Jesus, well he’s such a drag on their karma (or whatever), I have continually updated our Christmas Fame and Shame List (see it in the right column) with the latest stores and government agencies.
For those who care, I’ve tried to back-up my “Shame” entries in our Town Square Forums with explanations.
Late this week we got another flyer from Zellers. They’re selling them “Holiday Stockings” this year dontchaknow! “Holiday Stockings”, I tells ya!
Wow. What dat? Do the sensitive Muslims among us wear special stockings at this, um, Happy-Tree Joyous Seasonal Light and Happiness of Color Festivus time?
No, I think it’s liberals who have joined the insanity fight to ruin our Canadian heritage and history and most sacred traditions, is all. Well we oughta fight back. That’s what I think.
I can’t imagine how hard they had to try to not laugh when Zellers came up with “Holiday Stocking”. Interestingly, I received an email from a PTBC reader who wrote to The Bay and complained about their Zellers subsidiary nixing Christmas from Christmas. The customer service rep was rather perturbed and denounced such talk of a progressive abandonment of Christmas from Christmas. She wrote to our reader:
Hi William
Thank you for your email about the upcoming Christmas and holiday marketing programs at the Bay and Zellers – We do take all feedback from our customers seriously as it is through feedback that we are able to ensure a better shopping experience. However, I’m not sure how we gave you the impression that we weren’t celebrating Christmas – we always do recognize Christmas in our stores – we just launched “Christmas Street” at the Bay and just started to air Zellers and the Bay Christmas TV and radio commercials that talk about gift giving for Christmas. We also just launched our Christmas windows at the Bay stores in Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg and Toronto.
As well we were just included in a National Post article about company’s that do still use Christmas in their holiday messaging. We do recognize that we are a multicultural society, and therefore celebrate various holidays that take place throughout the year including Christmas. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
We hope you will reconsider your stance to boycott our stores and continue to shop with us at Christmas and throughout the upcoming year.

Indeed The Bay has always been fully about Christmas (and is on our fame list every year), but apparently their Zellers subsidiary didn’t get the memo.
In this latest Shoppers Drug Mart flyer (already on the Shame list), they leave out the word “Christmas” at the expense of stupidity throughout their flyer. On the front of the flyer we have a free giveaway in which the “holiday shopper” gets free movie tickets if they spend enough cash at their “holiday-ish” store. They describe it as at right. Christmas is now “it”, you see. Bill Clinton might have written the copy! Sorry that was “is”. To me, Christmas: it is about Christmas. Not “it”.
I caught this bit on Fox News Channel a few days ago as well. It really misses the point, actually, inasmuch as it’s not “Muslims” (and such) who are offended by the use of the word “Christmas”, it’s liberals. Muslims are not offended, nor are Jews, nor Buddhists. Just liberals. “Progressives”.
