Wisdom from the Roots #6332; includes introduction to the liberal root weevil

imageWife of Canadian PTBC root Marc,

OK let me start that again.

On Monday, I posted one of my “Wisdom from the Roots” posts (#6331) concerning PTBC reader Marc, who sent me a published letter to the editor he wrote to his local paper; and now his wife has had one published as well.

Liberal root weevil – another common Canadian grassroots pest. Also known as liberalis brainal poonus gargatuanus

They both concern the articles surrounding the funding of faith-based schools in Ontario.  Hers relates to a letter that a dingbat wrote (let’s call him a liberal root weevil) on the same subject, entitled “Not not the time to tinker with system”.  (One of my favorite lines in the liberal root weevil’s letter:  “Second, we’re forgetting the greatest thing about Canadian identity: multi-culturalism.”  That sentence—that mentality—is so twisted, so quintessentially liberal, so idiotic on so many levels… but don’t get me started now…)

Anyway, here’s Marc’s wife’s letter:

Faith-based schools deserve public funding

Re: “Not not the time to tinker with system” (Times-Journal July 27)

You just don’t get it.

You stated “the majority of people do not attend these schools—their children attend either public or Catholic elementary schools…” Maybe you don’t realize that Catholic elementary schools are religious schools.

John Tory wants to make education fair for all: Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, Hindu and Christian. As you also stated, “One’s faith is a deeply personal affair and if an individual chooses to raise a child in a faith-focused education system, that is their choice. But Ontarians shouldn’t have to pay for it.”

Please don’t forget that Catholic parents choose to send their children to a school which teaches their beliefs and Ontarians do pay for this.

My friend’s children attend a Catholic school and she believes all religions should be treated equally. Unless you are suggesting the Catholic school system be closed, all faith-based schools deserve the same public funding.

This is clearly an issue best dealt with to end the discrimination.
