As I said: the liberal-left “see no progress”

Yesterday while mired in my tax preparation I “live-blogged” the Senate Armed Services Committee hearings which featured the good General George Petraeus, and his latest report from the ground in Iraq, and the Democrats’ adversarial (rather than Hey! We’re on the same damn side!) questioning of him as though he were a war criminal.

I brought up a good line by Independent Democrat Joe Lieberman.  I wrote:

Senator Joe Lieberman—the lonely sensible Independent Democrat from the left—said it very well.  He too was astounded by the questioning and angst over the “success”, from the left.  He said (I’m paraphrasing) that they appeared to hear no progress, see no progress, speak of no progress.  And yet there is a report of progress being presented right to their faces.  They just can’t accept it—don’t want to—refuse to.

Today the Wall Street Journal’s OpinionJournal.com wrote up an editorial highlighting that same line and my exact same sentiments, in a good 2-minute read today:

‘See No Progress’

…Regrettably, none of this seemed to penetrate the minds of most Senate liberals. Democrats largely used the platform for reiterating the arguments they have made for 16 months, notwithstanding the changes on the ground. Joe Lieberman described the approach of his former party as “hear no progress in Iraq, see no progress in Iraq, and most of all, speak of no progress in Iraq.”…

For the other side, one need only appeal to the CBC source for guest political experts, the far-left site Huffington Post, which is all over Petraeus (as war criminal), and includes some writers repeating the infamous, nearly universally condemned MoveOn.org sentiments of last year in which they disgracefully condemned the good man as General “Betray Us”.

General Betray Us? Of course he has. MoveOn.org can hardly be expected to recycle its slogan from last September, when Gen. David Petraeus testified in support of escalating the U.S. war in Iraq, given the hysterical denunciations that worthy group received at the time. But it was right then—as it would be to repeat the charge now. …

Huffer Robert Scheer

The liberal-left may not see progress or success, on purpose, but liberals inherently also fail to see evil where it exists; and yet they see “evil” where it most certainly does not exist.

It’s must be hard being a liberal-leftist.
