Asian tsunami relief: Where’s Canada?

While the President of the United States has already arranged a powerful alliance of international support (The U.S., Japan, Australia, and India) backed-up by military and tons of food, supplies, medical needs, and cash cash cash—there is no mention in any global media of anything from Canada except a paltry $4 million (Canadian) dollars.  It’ll cost half that just to get the check written up after it passes through the massive liberal government bureaucracy and the liberal-friendly ad firms in Quebec take their cut.

Actually I did find this in the Times of Oman:

OTTAWA — Canada has expressed sympathy for victims of the “terrible disaster” in South Asia, after at least 12,400 people were killed in tsunamis triggered by a massive earthquake.

“On behalf of all Canadians, I would like to express my deepest sympathy and condolences to those affected,” said Prime Minister Paul Martin in a statement.

“We extend our thoughts and prayers to all the victims, their families, and others hit by this terrible disaster,” Martin said. He said Ottawa’s diplomats were monitoring the situation to help Canadians in the region.

Phew.  I thought we were doing diddly.

Canada has no military equipment to spare—although I don’t really see why not since Bombardier is still digesting the countless tens of billions of dollars in taxpayer funds that they’ve so badly needed over the years in order to buy Liberal votes in Quebec.  If Bombardier built military defence equipment instead of skidoos and the liberal nation had even the slightest taste for, say, defending the nation, Bombardier could be a junior and burgeoning Boeing instead of the faltering corporate-welfare basket-case that it is.  Plus we’d be able to help a few million people to not die. Maybe even Canadians someday.

I know, priorities, priorities…  But surely there must be gay people in south Asia.

Liberal Prime Minister Paul Martin constantly recites his phoney mantra pretending that Canada is as strong as ever and is in fact (to paraphrase him) “a world leader” (he might have even said “THE” world leader during the last election campaign) in peacekeeping and humanitarian aid around the world.  Clearly a lie, but Canadians suck this specious rhetoric up like, well, like the liberals they are.  The Conservatives apparently have to be proven right more than 26 billion times before Canadians will vote Conservative.

Anyway maybe the great Canadian Prime Minister should send a news release out (through a Liberal-friendly Quebec ad agency, duh) to the global media because they haven’t bothered to take notice of this oh-so-powerful nation of Canada and its ever so benevolent humanitarian aid, nor even see fit to mention anything about what Canada is doing to help the millions in south Asia today.

The United States is once again showing the world how enormous its compassion for humanity is, and is once again stepping up to the plate in this humanitarian crisis. Let’s now await the insults and abuse to be hurled at the Americans for, oh, I don’t know, by-passing the United Nations, or for not coming up with enough AIDS medication or condoms in this time of need, or for attempting to “occupy” Sri Lanka.  No…I know: having no plan!  That’s it.  Canada contributes nothing and lets people die and suffer immense pain, but while the US once again demonstrates its immense altruism around the world and saves lives and makes life better, alas it has no plan.

Canada oughta cotton on to this “no plan” thing and embrace it wholly.

If the Liberals in this nation acted as fast on building military strength and on global humanitarian aid as they do on gay marriage and other such pressing emergency issues, lives might be saved.
