BC Place roof collapse had little to do with Global Warming Inc.

As anyone with a 23-year-old roof would sheepishly agree,  the collapse of the inflated roof over Vancouver’s BC Place had practically nothing to do with “man-made global warming”.

But you’d never know it looking at all the headlines since the moment it happened.  All the media has portrayed it as yet another casualty of Bush’s global warming.  Well I made the “Bush’s” part up, but it’s no more of a stretch than the liberal media’s phony agenda-driven hysterics.

The following story was presented with a box on Canoe.ca’s CNews website with these “related” articles, notwithstanding the irrelevance of those largely unrelated articles as explained in the article itself!:

Human error, wind deflated B.C. Place

VANCOUVER (CP) – A combination of natural causes and human error led to the roof collapsing at B.C. Place stadium, general manager Howard Crosley said Friday.

He said a preliminary report showed weakened fabric, a rapid pressurization of the roof and heavy wind conditions caused the structure to tear. A B.C. Place employee quickly increased the pressure on the roof last Friday after staff noticed it was slightly inverted during a heavy wind and sleet storm.

At the same time, another person turned on an additional eight fans to keep the air-supported roof inflated.

“The staff reacted as they’re trained to do,” Crosley said. “Which is, when they noticed a depressurization in the facility, to apply pressure. The mistake that was made was that two people were operating the controls at the same time.”

Engineer Kris Hamilton, who is conducting a report of the incident, said there was three times more pressure on the roof than there was supposed to be.

Despite regular inspection of the roof, staff did not catch a weak area in the Teflon-coated material.

“We can’t tell the age of the damage, it is unlikely that it happened in a year,” said Hamilton.

“Related articles” might more properly have been such things as:

· Governments splurge on addition social program spending while basic infrastructure falls apart.

· Roads, highways, and bridges a dismal mess due to lack of ability of governments to stick to the basics.

· Canada completely unable to defend its borders but has gay “marriage”.

· So-called “man-made climate change” causes mental instability among anti-capitalist lovers of big government.

· “Climate change” had utterly nothing to do with roof collapse.

A National Post story backs up the NON-global warming angle, which I’m going to go ahead and call “reality”.
