Canadian Press: Harper “weary”; “dashed”; weakening economy”; “scaring voters”…

The liberals’ Canadian Press division’s Bruce Cheadle wrote a “news report” worthy of Canadian Press and all of Canada’s media.  Or to put it another way, it’s full of anti-Conservative crap, designed to bolster liberals and the even further leftists, and scathe Conservatives as best he is able.  Here’s the headline: “Harper calls election for Oct. 14, ignores own fixed-election date law”

OTTAWA – Prime Minister Stephen Harper, weary of waiting for the opposition to bring down his minority government, dashed his promise of a fixed election date and pulled the plug himself Sunday to end 31 months of Conservative rule.

But Liberals and Socialists and Blocheads never “dashed” a damn thing, you know, like promising to work in the interest of Canada, instead of in the interest of Dion, Layton, Duceppe, their wives or “life partners”; and Liberals, Socialists and Blocheads generally, by using their faux threats of an election every three days or so.  That was “ignoring” nothing, and was something about which no Canadians were “weary”.  It’s Harper’s fault!  Good reporting, Mr. Cheadle. And Canadian Press.  Good for you. And your agenda.

Against the backdrop of a weakening economy, Harper asked Gov. Gen. Michaelle Jean to dissolve Canada’s 39th Parliament so that a national vote can be held Oct. 14 – the day after Thanksgiving.

Actually, GDP growth for the past quarter was higher than the growth for the quarter before that.  That, by definition, means a strengthening economy.  Unless of course Mr. Cheadle is some sort of prescient genius and knows something everyone else doesn’t know.  And if he doesn’t, there’s a word for what he just did, here.  And it isn’t pie.

Harper said this election will be a choice between certainty and risk at a time when the world economy has entered a period of instability – a statement aimed at scaring voters away from Liberal Leader Stephane Dion’s proposed overhaul of Canada’s tax system.

I guess Mr. Bruce (“Uri Geller”) Cheadle has some factual information to back up that awesome mind-reading ability which enables him to factually report the Harper tactic of “scaring voters” by stating plain inarguable and very well-known facts about the world economy.  Unfortunately, Bruce (“Kreskin”) Cheadle apparently has no such information to back up the notion that Dion and Layton are constantly trying to FREAK CANADIANS OUT about phantom “recessions” and “right-wing agendas” and “extreme right wing agendas” and “hidden agendas” and “Canadians living in squalor and poverty” and “working families are dying” and the Harper Conservatives are “the most Conservative government in history” and other things I’ve read in the press lately.  Those things aren’t aimed at “scaring” voters, they’re “facts”.  See?  Now you’re thinkin’ like a liberal-ass reporter.

He was immediately blasted by his opponents, who accused him of a failed right-wing policy that has battered the economy, ignored climate change, and abandoned the poor and laid-off workers.

All those things, huh?  How about adding “abortion” too?  And any other thing that you hate about conservatives.  Of course Harper hasn’t “blasted” any “left-wing” parties for their “left wing” claptrap.  At least nothing worth “reporting”.

Public opinion polling over the past year suggests another minority is in the offing – common wisdom that’s been openly embraced by Harper, who doesn’t want to scare off voters wary of what a Tory majority might do.

Yes, that line actually appeared in a news article today.

The media is so liberal, they don’t even know how liberal they are anymore.  Or worse, they do know.
