Since it’s awards weekend…
Last night, according to the absolutely excellent Media Research Center, the failing CBS News anchor Katie Couric suggested that “nationalizing” the banks in the U.S. might just be the way to go.
For those of you who aren’t up to speed on the purposely sneaky, stealthy lingo of left-wing Liberals, or of what I call the you’ve got to be kidding party (NDP), or of the American Democratic Party yet, “nationalization” is a smiley-face code word for, well, communism. It means the government buying—taking over—the means of production. “Nationalizing” the banks is the very essence—the first and most basic tenet—of the “progressive” (there’s another one of those words) shift to economic socialism and communism.
Couric: Nationalizing Banks Will Provide ‘Big Dose of Confidence’
Katie Couric concluded a Thursday night look at the pros and cons of nationalizing banks by seeing the federal government as a comforting security blanket: “Nationalization may have a psychological impact as well, and Uncle Sam wrapping his arms around failing banks in this country might provide a big dose of confidence for the American consumer.”
This reminded me of when here at home, on our state-owned, state-run, socialism-reliant CBC Newsworld channel (CBC is, for example, “nationalized”), the anchor Nancy Wilson, asked, in all seriousness, ”…What about the government stepping in and taking over the actual plants that face closure…?”, on December 16, 2008, in a question to fellow government worker, Ontario’s Liberal government Minister of economic development, Michael Bryant.
Naturally I awarded Wilson our coveted (only by socialists and communists and the likes of CBC workers) Socialist-Communist Statement of the Week Award.
Now Katie Couric gets one too.
I may have to crank up the production of this particular model of shiny trinkets to award to the folks. If production starts to yield profits, PTBC may be “nationalized”!
