Globe & Mail warns readers: Some of those scary “religious” folks want to put gays to death!

You know, just like them Taliban crazies and other Islamo-fascist terrorists!  Most Canadian Christians, see, they’z freaks!  Just like them Ayrabs!

While the liberals’ CTV.ca took its information from its Bell Globemedia brother, the liberals’ Globe and Mail, CTV chose to not be quite as extreme in their liberal-left fundamentalism and anti-Christian evangelizing.

Here’s How the CTV.ca report went, generally:

Tories intend to protect same-sex opponents

CTV.ca News Staff

The Conservative government is working on measures that would protect opponents of gay marriage, including ministers and justices of the peace who refuse to marry same-sex couples.

The legislation will also include measures that would protect religious leaders’ rights to voice criticism of homosexual behaviour without risking complaints of human rights violations, The Globe and Mail reports.

[…] Courts and tribunals, however, have sent mixed signals over the rights of individuals to publicly criticize homosexual behaviour, and as a result the new legislation could face challenges under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

They opted to not include this juicy scary, scary!, scary!!!-sounding tripe from the Globe and Mail, which was written by John Ibbitson and Bill Curry and Brian Laghi (yes, it took three of these geniuses):

The former Liberal government said that existing laws and court rulings already protect the rights of religious groups not to be compelled to perform same-sex marriage.

However, there is acknowledged uncertainty about the rights of individuals to publicly criticize homosexual behaviour, to take out advertisements that quote scripture demanding that homosexuals be put to death, or to refuse to do business with groups whose views an individual or group finds objectionable.

Yes.  There’s a real epidemic of Christians in Canada calling out for the death of gay-folk.

In actual fact, I would say that as a general matter, there is far greater chance of precisely the opposite sentiment being expressed, as the more real danger.
