Government Games 2012 in the UK: The gov’s official mascots are….apparently space moron freaks

This is just part of what happens when you let the government do things for you — or to you!

After a quintessentially GOVERNMENT operation — a “rigorous 18-month design process involving 40 focus groups,” (seriously!) — the (still left-wing) U.K. government would like to present your new 2012 U.K. government games mascots:

I’m only shocked the Brits didn’t dress them in burqas and turbans in order to be “inclusive”.  (At least you can‘t tell if they‘re male or female!  That’d be a violation of the liberal philosophy of “there ain’t no difference!”)

I love what one critic in the U.K. was quoted in the Telegraph.co.uk as saying:

Stephen Bayley, the prominent design critic, said: “What is it about these Games which seems to drive the organisers into the embrace of this kind of patronising, cretinous infantilism? Why can’t we have something that makes us sing with pride, instead of these appalling computerised Smurfs for the iPhone generation?

But isn’t “patronising, cretinous infantiles” and “appalling Smurfs for the iPhone generation” exactly what the self-anointed elites in liberal, progressive governments think of the population as a general matter?
