Ignatieff and the Liberals sound like babies

Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff stood in front of the Canadian people this morning and presented himself as an intractable pain.  He promised to give us a clear answer today as to whether he will force an election on us.  He did not. I still don’t know where he stands.  The very first question asked of him from the press gallery after his long drone (switching back and forth from one language to another making it all the more annoying to listen to) was… whether or not he plans to force an election.

Even the CTV banner is confusing — “DEMANDING MORE—Ignatieff says he doesn’t want an election” — because nobody knows what in tarnation he just said.  Several reporters’ questions asked and re-asked what he is saying.

The leader of the opposition should stand down, get out of the way, and help Canada and our economy by ensuring there is stability and the appearance of stability in our government at this time.  In a couple of years, he might want to resume his incessant, monotonous, bellicose talk of elections every three weeks, threatening to bring down the government every ten days, or otherwise appearing to flex his muscles again for the media again in order to remind Canadians he and his party exist, like he did today.

So I still don’t know where our country stands.  And nobody in the world outside of Canada does.  That will harm our country. And it’s Ignatieff and the Liberals who are doing this, not the government of Prime Minister Harper.

CLEAR AS CHILDREN PLAYING IN MUD UPDATE:

imageCTV’s reporter Tom Clark, when asked by anchor Dan Matheson about the Ignatieff lecture, used an analogy of children playing with sticks to explain how clear things now are:

“Well Dan I think Michael Ignatieff just took a big stick and drew a line in the sand, and then took that stick and [wiggling it around] erased parts of the line big enough you could drive a prime ministerial limousine through, Dan!”

image Presumably he meant a grown-up limo, not the Liberals’ version of a prime ministerial limo.

UPDATE 2
The CBC is even more confused and conflicted than usual:
