In today’s state news, there’s no news about hockey

For at least the past ¾ of an hour on Canadian state-run media (there’s many state-run TV channels—the one I’m watching currently is “Newsworld”, which is Canada’s answer to CNN only with a view from the left of that.  That’s right.  Left of CNN, and run by the ruling Liberal Party’s appointees, so even more anti-American.)

Anyway, for the past twenty minutes, they’ve been reporting on the nothingness surrounding the lack of no news at all whatsoever about hockey and the current hockey strike.

It should be noted that another state-run channel, CBC, owns the rights to broadcast hockey games on TV in Canada.  That’s right, they competed against private Canadian TV networks owned by Canadian citizens—the government against its own citizens—using taxpayer dollars—to win the rights to broadcast hockey games.

CBC already consumes about $1,000,000,000 per year—that’s ONE BILLION DOLLARS PER YEAR—of taxpayer money just to operate its huge state-run media empire with its huge studios located on the most expensive real estate in the cities across the nation, in seven (7) languages.  With this merciful hockey strike which I hope lasts literally forever, the CBC (that is to say, the taxpayers) are taking a HUGE bath.

Historic elections coming up in Iraq, the nation of Canada divided as never before, our military in tatters, our decrepit socialist health care system in an utterly disgraceful, dangerous mess, half the country furious over the Liberals’ emergency gay marriage promotion plan among other things, impending snap elections constantly on the horizon, an official judicial inquiry into Liberal Party corruption going on (it’s the biggest alleged corruption in the history of our nation),  a war on terror going on, and “global warming” hasn’t even been touted in the past 9 hours!

Again, there’s no news about hockey today.  No releases, no nothing.  This is just a reminder, I guess.

On CNN, at least they’re reporting about death and destruction and the horrible mess that the Americans through George Bush, and “Rumsfeld”, and “Halliburton”, somehow, have made over there.  And a story about re-igniting a lawsuit against Macdonald’s over people getting fat all because of Macdonald’s, and how other companies could maybe be sued too—if you’re interested and God love ya we hope you are!  Not a story about basketball to be heard.  Or Canada, by the way.

Now at the top of the hour they’re back to the hard news.

UPDATE:  In the hard news, they’re back to the hockey strike non-story.  I have managed to figure out that “there’s talks going on today”.  That’s why the big excitement in the state-run media for their huge taxpayer-paid hockey broadcast contract investment which they won over private citizens.  I’m praying for the strike to never end.
