Income taxes up 11.8% in past year as incomes rise only 4.4%
Personal income taxes paid by Canadians to all levels of governments jumped 11.8% over the past year, the fastest rise since 1990, swelling federal government coffers already brimming with oil and gas revenue and taxes from bulging corporate profits.
At the same time, personal incomes rose by only 4.4% year-over-year in the second quarter.

Running a planned, socialist economy exactly like the now failed Soviet Union’s in many ways, demands lots and lots of cash for the government—your cash—which of course the government believes it can spend better than you can, because you’re too stupid to spend your own money, you dumb Canuck.
Yes, the liberal-left believes you’re too stupid to properly spend the money you earned, even on your own basic health care and that of your family, and so the government must spend it for you.
They might have gotten that idea from the voting pattern among Canadians. Canadians voted for them, so what are they to think? They’re only doing what you told them to. They’re only doing what liberal-left (or extreme left) governments do.
For example, you are too stupid to look after your own children and their daily care during your hectic day as a parent, notwithstanding the fact that raising your family is your be-all, end-all paramount duty in life. So the benevolent democratically-elected government is going to offer you “free” daycare (and “early learning”, liberal-left-style!) for your children in official government facilities, staffed by unionized government officials, and they’ll do it for you. They need you to keep working! So you can pay for this! The circle is complete!
They have said, publicly, almost proudly, that they’re modeling that (pure 100% socialist, Soviet-style) daycare program exactly on their ever-so-fabulous (pure 100% socialist, North Korean-style) healthcare system we have in Canada, which most sane people acknowledge is a North Korean-style healthcare system, and which most other countries, including socialist countries, use as an example of how not to do anything, ever.
But you see that government daycare system will require countless billions upon billions upon billions of
your
their dollars. So, see, they need your cash. So it’s perfect! Now work hard! No harder! No really I mean it. Do it now!
That’s “progressive”! That’s liberal.
Vote liberal.
Wait: you didn’t honestly believe you were working for yourself and your family, did you? Sorry—you may be confused. You’re not working just for yourself and your family anymore! No, it’s not conservative governments that you elected in Ottawa and the provinces, it’s liberal-left governments. Luckily, we can all vote for the correction as required at voting time. As I said at the beginning though, Liberals and the liberal-left are in favor of all this, so they won’t exercise the option to change. They’ll vote for more, and more, and more, of the same.
