Liberal multicult hypocrisy and misuse of taxpayer funds blindingly evident in T.O. -libs “outraged”

A leftist Toronto Star story today betrays the liberal-left’s lack of sound principles and policies, a whack of confusion, and a little mixed-messaging.

First, apparently, provincial taxpayer cash isn’t being spent by other liberals in other government departments as it is supposed to be according to their own pro-multicult

cult

agenda—which includes funding immigrants’ English-language learning at our already overburdened taxpayer expense.  Shocka.

And then they unwittingly indicate to me that it may be unnecessary and a waste of cash in any case.

Anyway on the one hand, the shocka…

ESL funds used to heat schools

Cash-strapped Toronto board uses only half of language allocation to instruct newcomers

The Toronto public school board receives $84 million for English as a second language, but spends only half of that on ESL programs … because it is one of the pots of money from the province that does not come with strings attached…

A photograph of an immigrant mother and her daughter attached to the story is captioned:

“Samira Batarseh came to Canada in 2000 from Jordan and expected much more ESL help for her daughter, Hala.”

But then the liberal indignation kicks in—despite their own perfidy:

It’s a situation one Toronto trustee calls “repugnant,” and has prompted another to propose the board dedicate at least 75 per cent of its ESL money to teaching newcomers.

Just 75%?  Not all of it?  Huh?

It’s more than Toronto trustee Soo Wong got back in the day, though, which on the other hand didn’t seem to hinder her progress, despite her protestations of all the “repugnancy”:

“ESL is dear to my heart. I was an ESL child,” said trustee Soo Wong, who emigrated from Hong Kong as a child in the early 1970s and will bring the ESL motion to the board tonight.

In English, presumably.

Later in the story, the article’s author and the immigrant ingrate pictured in the photograph jointly if unwittingly betray the fallacy:

While her older daughter is now in university, those first few years were more difficult than they should have been. “I believe you need more (ESL) help as a newcomer to this country. You need daily help,” Batarseh said.

She reportedly said it in English while her daughter was home from one of our taxpayer-funded universities.

P.S.
And of course in addition, as Maureen, who sent me the article told me, “Here’s an novel thought”: left out of the story completely is the question of why on earth can’t they learn English before coming here, or pay for the lessons themselves as a general matter.  Indeed.  I told her: Stop thinking novel thoughts Maureen.  That ain’t progressive.  (Smirk).
