Liberal Premier McGuinty admits “it doesn’t look good” that his gov didn’t investigate Lib MP Dhalla

No I’m not insanely useless on any type of “Liberal biased” level, I’m just globally insanely useless.  I am the government.

[Ontario’s Liberal minister of labor Peter] Fonseca was asked repeatedly if he chose not to investigate Dhalla because she’s a fellow Liberal. His defence was that he did not investigate any of the complaints he heard at that meeting.

McGuinty admitted that does not look good.

“There’s obviously a perception here. There’s no doubt about it,” he said.

Followup: Liberal MP Ruby Dhalla quits post over allegations of mistreatment of her servants

Over at the liberals’ Globe and Mail division, they report that two Liberal governments are suffering from the bad press that their erstwhile Liberal darling is causing them.

Allegations that Ms. Dhalla mistreated two foreign live-in caregivers have tainted two Liberal parties with the whiff of scandal, forcing her to quit her post as the Liberals’ youth and multiculturalism critic, and hitting Dalton McGuinty’s government with allegations of a cover-up.

One of the party’s high-profile MPs, she travelled widely to speak at public events, briefly flirting with a run for the leadership, and showed up at the convention in a white stretch limo.

[…]

She’s also viewed by fellow caucus members as a “high maintenance” self-promoter, unwilling to do parliamentary drudgery, and demanding with her staff.

“I don’t get the sense that too many people are feeling all that sorry for her,” one MP said.

[…]

“It’s everything starting with making sure she’s in every photo-op with the leader. I often hear of events where she calls the organizers and says ‘I want to speak,’ even though she wasn’t invited,” one former caucus colleague said.

“… And she’s also difficult to work for. She probably has more [staff] turnover than anyone on the hill.”

Lovely.

These are painful days for the media.  Watch for plenty of bogus stories of conservatives mispronouncing words or failing to mow their lawns (with manual push-style lawnmowers!) to pop up, in order to fully distract from this Liberal one.
