Liberals utter anti-liberal-left blasphemy

Statements made at and about a liberal-leftist conference (—keynote address by the comparatively right-wing American-style Al Gore, but Americans are OK if they’re anti-Bush, and anti-American):

The news article headline:

Canada 2020 conference aspires to shake off Liberal red roots

Hmm.  I always say liberals are never embarrassed.  Maybe they are.  Of themselves!

As John Manley, the former Liberal deputy prime minister put it Wednesday, “we can’t even have an adult conversation” about health-care policy in this country. “The public’s way ahead of us (politicians) on that,” Manley later confided.

Hmm.  I’ve always said that liberals can’t even have an honest debate about healthcare because they’re too busy defending their whole reason-for-being, their ridiculous, decrepit, socialist healthcare system, which they’ve staked their entire political capital on maintaining at any and all expense just to look like they aren’t fools.

“Our country has suffered a lot from dogma over the past 30 years,” Marc-Andre Blanchard, the president of the Liberal party of Quebec … As an example, he cited Liberal preoccupations with building a Canadian identity around the health-care system in the last two elections, a decision Blanchard said was “based more on focus groups than real values.”

Hmmm.  Every single cotton-pickin’ Canadian knows that—I mean except liberals.

Justin Trudeau, eldest son of former Liberal prime minister Pierre, called the conference a “chance to actually start thinking long-term again.”

“Our entire society is about the next quarterly report . . . about how to survive the next couple of years in minority government,” said Trudeau, who stood out in sandals and a T-shirt among the business suits.

Hmm.  Sandals and a T-shirt, huh?  They’re liberals!

Peter Donolo, Jean Chretien’s former communications director, said the progressive or left side of the political spectrum has been outmanoeuvred over the past decade by conservative think-tanks, which have generated much of the public policy buzz in North America.

The left has actually become very conservative, he said, sticking to political orthodoxy and seldom goring sacred policy cows.

Hmm.  “Conservative” in a manner of speaking only—not politically—but that was a fun word to use there.

Liberals are still left-wing, as Chretien’s communications director said, and often espouse socialist or even Marxist policies in their mix of Godless non-principles, which is what he didn’t say.  As I’ve learned today, liberals can be embarrassed—about themselves.
