Negative Anti-Christmas Secularist Liberals; Pro-Christmas Happyfolks

Participate in the Christmas-Wiki!

A “wiki” is a collaborative forum, the contents of which can be added to by anyone who has access to it. At least that’s the definition I’m going with for this purpose.

What I want everyone to do is this:

As you come across them, list the stores that, from what you can tell (judging by their flyers, their advertising on TV and radio, etc), are Pro-Christmas (that is, they say “Christmas” on their flyers instead of “Holidays” or “Merry-Tree Festivus” or “Auspicious Colorful Light Time” or Merry Jolly-Time” …..bah!); and of course post those that are clearly avoiding the word “Christmas”.

We can then use this resource as such:  I suggest that we shop for Christmas only at stores that celebrate Christmas; and of course not shop at stores that are doing everything they can to appease the liberal-left secularists and are helping to reduce traditional Christmas down to nothing but a meaningless, secular, anti-Christian, politically-correct, “progressive”, liberal, federal, “holiday”.

I have some samples, then I’ll explain how to do this:

From my scan of flyers in our local paper on November 10 2005, I find this:

  • Sears (Canada) bent over backward to avoid “Christmas” in this flyer.  Even when trying to sell Martha Stewart Christmas trees, they referred to them as “Martha Stewart Everyday™ 7.5’ pre-lit Aspen pine tree.”  Not a Christmas Tree?  Nope!  A “tree”.  No mention of Christmas on their flyer, but lots of “holiday fashions”!  And oddly enough they identify many items in their flyer as “Wish #76” and “Wish #129” etc.  Christmas wishes?  Kwanzaa wishes? Nope!  Just “wishes”!

  • Canadian Tire says “‘Tis the Season to Excite and Delight”.  ‘Tis the Christmas season?  Nope!  ‘Tis the season to Excite and Delight!  Christmas lights are being sold as such:  “Exclusive to Canadian Tire.  100 multicoloured Noma LED lights…”.  Not Christmas lights?  Nope!  Just lights for no particular reason!  Perhaps for “Kwanzaa”!  Inside the flyer they do allude to Christmas as if by accident.  Would it kill ‘em to say “Christmas” on the front of their flyer instead of hideously avoiding it like the liberal-left PC patsies that they are?

  • A local but large grocery chain called Thrifty’s similarly says “‘Tis the Season!” on their flyer front, accompanied by “Great Savings to Start Your Holiday Baking”.  What holiday?  Kwanzaa?

  • Home Depot says:  “Get your home ready for the holidays”.  What holidays?  The only holiday that is coming up is CHRISTMAS!  Hanukah doesn’t have an official state-declared day off.  Just Christmas does!  It’s a legal federal holiday in celebration of…. CHRISTMAS

  • Then it just about blows your mind when you see the Rona (building supplies chain) flyer, with (in huge blazing lettering and pictures) “CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS!” followed by “Deck the halls”, and pictures of Christmas trees, stockings, Santa, toys, and all the wonderful traditional things that make Christmas so special and magical—like the good old days of real Canada!  Our good old Canada!  And by the way, on the inside back cover of their flyer, they have a blurb about themselves which they headline with “Proudly Canadian” and “A proud and loyal HISTORY as CANADIAN as they come”.

  • Shoppers Drug Mart says “Holidays made easy”.  What holidays?  Labour Day?  No, I think they mean CHRISTMAS holidays!  They also advertise on their flyer that apparently, “The Holiday Book now available”.  Ooh!  A “holiday” book!  Thank God!  Or you know, thank “whatever”!  Maybe thank Paul Martin!  Inside the flyer they are selling us “Selected holiday boxed cards”, “Selected holiday ornaments”, “Selected holiday ribbon”, “Selected LED light sets”…. and then lo and behold, someone goofed!  They wrote:  “Selected Christmas wrap”!  OOPS!  If you need a job, you might apply at Shoppers since someone’s about to be fired for typing “Christmas”!  For the love of God….. or Martin….

  • The Bay may be confused!  On The Bay flyer, they proclaim themselves to be “The Official Store of Christmas”!  Well just for that, they are for me, now!  They had me at “Christmas”!  But then in another flyer, this one from Home Outfitters, which as I understand it is owned by the Bay, they studiously avoid any mention of “Christmas” on their cover, choosing instead the wording “Deck Your Wallet” — some sort of twist on “Deck the Halls” I suppose —  even while describing pages within their flyer as examples of “Gifts” and “Gifts of Their Dreams”.  Gifts for what?  Winter?

  •   The big hobby and crafts chain Michaels claims to be “Your Holiday Decorating Store”.  People, I sure hope you’re decorating your house for the “holidays”!  What’s the color theme for “holidays”?  Purple?  And why do they have Christmas trees on the cover of their flyer if it’s not CHRISTMAS holidays?  And why is their flyer red and green?

    That’s just today.

So here’s the deal:  I’ve started a thread (a topic) in our Discussion Forum—NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED—for you to post your examples of what stores are doing with the whole Merry Winterfest of Greenery and Lights and Non-Religious Insignificance Restfull Period of Legal Day-Offishness.  Which stores fall within what side of the fence?  We need to know the ones we shop at, and the ones we avoid this CHRISTMAS

Here’s the link.  You simply click this link, then you’ll figure it out from there I think.
