Omar Khadr told FBI he saw Maher Arar at al-Qaeda training camps in Afghanistan

At Omar Khadr’s hearing today at Gitmo, it was reported that Khadr actually saw Maher Arar at al-Qaeda safe houses and training camps.

I will view this news with my usual amount of initial skepticism.

For now, I’m mostly interested that the Khadr and Arar-boosting mainstream media is actually covering the revelation, rather than burying it.  Let me just say that that surprises me more than the Khadr/Arar revelation itself.

Khadr immediately identified Arar from a black and white photo he was shown during two weeks of interrogation that got underway Oct. 7, 2002, at a U.S. base in Afghanistan, FBI Special Agent Robert Fuller told Khadr’s war-crimes trial in Guantanamo Bay.

“He identified him by name,” Fuller testified. “He said he had never seen him in Canada.”
