Ottawa fails to reach offshore revenue deal with Nova Scotia, Newfoundland. I wonder what would happen if the oil was in Ontario. Gee. I just so wonder.
WINNIPEG (CP) – Premier Danny Williams accused Ottawa of slapping Newfoundland and Labrador in the face Wednesday as he broke off talks with the federal government aimed at reaching an offshore energy revenue deal.
Staying true to his word, a defiant and fed-up Williams vowed he won’t return to the table after a Christmas deadline clearly passed him by. “When I say we are done – we are not talking to the federal government on this file any more,” Williams said before leaving an airport hotel in Winnipeg after a long day of negotiations.
“They have slapped us in the face at Christmas time. I can tell you we will not forget this, believe me.”
