Pathological anti-Harper bias in CanWest article?

This CanWest poll follows nicely on the heels of other polls, the biggest of which was yesterday’s poll conducted by the Strategery of Liberalness Council & Leftish Vote-Getting Media Agenda Testing (I think that’s what it’s called) and reported in the Globe and Mail and CTV.  SEE HERE

Today though “news” “reporter” Norma Greenaway of CanWest “News” couldn’t even get ten measly words down on paper before gratuitously bashing the Conservative Canadian Prime Minister for, well, being the favorite among Canadians.  Liberals are cranky when they’re losers!

Polls place Harper above Dion

OTTAWA—Many see him as conceited and willing to say anything to get elected, but Conservative leader Stephen Harper trounces rookie Liberal leader Stephane Dion as Canadians’ pick for prime minister, a new national poll says.

Of course opening lines like that always prompt me to look for the words “analysis” or “editorial” or “the view from the left” or “journalism student—just practising!”, but no, no such words were there.  Quite the contrary:  they have the words “NEWS STORY” written quite clearly across the top of the story in the gray banner as seen below.

One normally begins a story with words exemplifying or introducing the most important aspects of the story.  But whatever. There’s an agenda to drive here.  This is the liberal media.

The rest of the article was just devastating for liberals—and obviously also for the self-important, say anything to bash Conservatives, and grumpy pro-liberal agenda-driven former (?) journalism student named Norma Greenaway of CanWest “News”.

The Ipsos Reid poll, conducted exclusively for CanWest News Service and Global National and released yesterday, also said those surveyed see Mr. Harper as more trustworthy than Mr. Dion and as someone with values closer to their own.

The online survey—conducted among a random group of 1,000 respondents from Feb. 15 to Feb. 19—reported 46 per cent said Mr. Harper would make the best prime minister.

NDP leader Jack Layton was their second choice at 29 per cent while Mr. Dion trailed at 25 per cent.

[…] A total of 51 per cent of respondents saw Harper as “someone who will get things done,” compared to 25 per cent for Dion and 24 per cent for Layton.

I missed the part of the poll in which Canadians said that Harper was “willing to say anything to get elected”.  Maybe Canadians should write her and ask her at [email protected]
