the Federal Government division of the Liberal Party… and their cool jets

A reader (hat tip Ross M.) sent me this Canadian Press clip from the National Post.

Here’s the lesson we learn from this:  See my previous post and others relating to “divisions of the Liberal Party”.  Especially note how Canada’s federal government is now a division of the Liberal Party.

Cabinet ministers in the Paul Martin government are justifying their use of luxury Challenger jets when cheaper commercial planes were available.

A report says more than $335,000 has been spent unnecessarily by government ministers for flights in Challengers since Paul Martin became prime minister.

[…] Intergovernmental Affair Minister Stephane Dion suggests the Challengers are especially needed since the Liberals hold minority status.

Dion says ministers must be in the Commons for crucial votes to avoid being defeated by the opposition.

But that’s not important for the Conservatives.  What’s important for Canada is keeping Liberals in power.  Got it?

It should be noted that Challenger jets are made by the very liberal-friendly Bombardier division of the Liberal Party in Quebec.  This is a private company that is totally reliant upon the Liberal Party’s government of Canada division, as are many private companies and many, if not most—citizens.  You hear about Bombardier every couple of months as they receive fresh handouts and loan guarantees of tens of billions of dollars constantly.  Former Liberal Prime Minister Jean Chretien bought the Bombardier jets (well, we bought them, but you can understand the confusion) for absolutely no apparent reason several years ago.  Official reports suggested not buying them citing “absolutely no need at all whatsoever”, and “we’ve already got jets…” and “what in tarnation are you thinking?” and so on, to paraphrase the reports.  Making the news in the liberal media that day?  “The Conservatives nominated a Christian in the Abbottsford riding…..”
