2008-09-19Another NDP candidate has been forced to quit his bid to become an MP after video surfaced of him smoking marijuana.
Kirk Tousaw, who was running in the riding of Vancouver-Quadra, decided to leave the campaign last night when video of him smoking marijuana with activist Marc Emery surfaced on the Internet.
“Mr. Tousaw did not want his past actions interfering with the federal campaign and so he decided to leave the race,” an NDP spokesman confirmed last night. “We accepted his resignation.”
Tousaw is the second NDP candidate to resign this week for drug-taking. Dana Larsen, the NDP’s former candidate in West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast resigned Wednesday after video surfaced of him taking LSD, smoking marijuana and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of illegal drugs surfaced on the Internet.
